I assumed he'd rather we had bought big names- because he says we WOULD have won trophies ...
ergo he wishes we did not have Fab, RVP, etc.

Maybe he prefers not to have won anything - doh.

I think you've extrapolated your own assumptions out of that fella.

no I haven't - you can't have it both ways.
Without them he says we'd have won things - with them we didn't

I'm sorry but it is because of and attitude like yours that we have won nothing in 7 years, basically it is everyone else's fault but the players that are actually on the pitch. I'm not saying these players are poor or I did not want them at the club, what I wanted was them to stay and win something. They were the ones on the pitch, if I make a mistake in my job, or my performance is poor I can't just blame in on my manger, my colleges, the company or who ever, these players needed to take responsibility for us not winning anything, and along with the management team find a way to win. Not cut and run when the going got tough and blame a lack of trophies for the reason they wanted to leave.

Stop making excuses, even if you play football at amateur level you should be able to take some responsibility for either winning or losing, if you lose a football match it is at least 90% the fault of the players on the pitch. And correct me if I'm wrong, but these were the players on the pitch, I can't think of many big games we lost where you could say fabregas, nasri, RVP played really well but the rest of the team let them down, therefore they should have taken responsibility for their performances and come back hungrier than ever to make sure we won a trophy, instead of moping around blaming everyone else but themselves and looking for a way out.

I can't recall a single match when I thought RVP, Fabregas, or Nasri were to blame for a defeat....

But most games where we lost the inferior players WERE to blame.

However you obviously have better recall than me.

So are you saying in all the big games we played, such as CL quarter finals, FA cup semi finals, CC finals and important league games (basically games where we went out of competitions) against teams like man U and Chelsea that our good players all played really well, but were let down by the others? Just because they didn't make a mistake that led to goal doesn't mean that they weren't indirectly responsible along with the other team members for us going out of competitions.

Christ maybe I should check if it was actually arsenal I have been watching all these years, maybe it was a different team, because it clearly could not have been the same team you and ammaar have been watching lol.

Well, I'm going to stay with my thing.

This is a team game. You can't totally single out players, either to build them up of to knock them down. Other teams are going to put pressure on the the area of the field that they think is the weakest and the whole team needs to support that player, not look over and watch him burn saying, "Looks like Jenks is screwed today, glad it's not coming at me!"

If a player gives the ball away it may be because he hit a bad pass, or it may be that no one game him a decent target. I think any average fan that thinks that they can infallibly tell who is to blame or who deserves credit, in a PL game for everything is deceiving themselves.

If RVP is genuine about wanting to return Arsenal to their glory days, then he should sign a new contract.

Otherwise his words are just an insult.

I think we are quite close to the cazorla deal, the malaga owner isn't responding to calls from malaga officials and i think they will have to accept our offer by the end of the month if because they have to pay off outstanding debts, also we are close to signing nuri sahin on a season long loan, now that really would be an immense signing, he is a top quality player who was injured for alot of last season and he was also at real madrid etc etc http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2179789/Arsenal-line-Nuri-Sahin.html#ixzz21rhlAAqj

I could say the same about you, and while you think I am apologist for the club I think you are an apologist for the players that cut and run when they should have stayed and help sort out the problem. Your entitled to your opinion, and fair play to you if that is what you believe, I personally think what you have said is not true. The fact is the team has not won a trophy for 7 years and every single player that has played for the club in that time is partly responsible for that. We will have to agree to disagree.

No offense taken, it is refreshing that people can have a decent debate without turning it into a slagging match. That happens far too often on here. We all want the same thing, which is arsenal to be winning the top prizes, we may disagree on what has gone wrong and the best way to move forward. You do make some good points and while I don't agree with it all I can respect that, and its good to see some mutual respect between posters who don't have the same views. Now let's all try and be civil and hopefully we can have a good start to the season, as our fans could really do with something to cheer about.
