I'll take that, coupled with the fact there probably isn't anyone in their Board room who wants to sit across the table from Mr Cortese again, after the Chambo deal.
I think he will stay at least for another couple of years. I am sure Cortese has realised that he is the backbone of our side. It will be interesting to see who is brought in during the summer to strengthen the side.
we are one piece missing from a solid spine: Boruc; ?; Morgan; Rickie. All good teams build from a strong spine.
Yep. They surely know that Cortese would drag a deal out until the final day of the window, or close to it. I don't doubt that big teams, Arsenal included, will make a run at him; I suspect that most will turn to other options if faced with our chairman's particular brand of obstinacy, especially a team like Arsenal who are (at best) experiencing a very serious scare in terms of their Champions League status. With Chamberlain, they had more points of leverage...the money really mattered relative to income, he was a young player rather than a major piece and thus there was no hurry to get him in, and he was trying to force the move. If it comes down to it, there are very good defensive mids elsewhere in the world who can be had for less, without having to go into a boardroom in plate armour to acquire. Eventually, someone will probably succeed in throwing enough money at us to pry away core pieces. But I'm doubting that it'll be this summer.
To be honest, I think Arsenal would be looking, but probably know it would be a fight to get him. Plus there's rumours of them being after Geoffrey Kondogbia from Sevilla too.
Don't worry your pretty little heads about it, Wenger ain't signing him. Whilst i recognise his ability, i'm not sure he's Champions league standard, so we won't approach about him (in a sensible world anyway). Plus Corteses is a mean bastard, so we'd have to pay a fortune. I wish we had a mean bastard handling transfers
I've watched him enough times to think he could be a CL standard player. He's only young so will improve. Hang on what am I saying? You're an Arsenal scout aren't you? He's a **** Aaron Ramsey.
Agree with Tomw, I think Snidders is already CL quality and compared with the rest of Arsenals other midfielders who have CL experience he is better than most of them. Personally I would not let him leave as he is absolutely the first name on the team sheet at SMS whereas Arsenal have proven in the past that they take our youngsters and stunt their development/ruin them....just look at the state of the Ox?
Morgan, like Lallana stayed with us through the bad times, so why would they sign a new contract and then want to leave during the good times? I don't think he would walk into the Arsenal starting 11, so he will get more game time here, which will be better for his international ambitions.
Firstly, Ramsey starts maybe half their games at best, and secondly, they're not really comparable as players. And lastly, he's not going there anyway of course!
Starts more often than not, the majority of games (but we can carry on arguing the semantics of that if you want) and both play in central midfield so would be in competition to get in the team, without directly comparing specific abilities.
Ok, in the league he's started 18 games and not started 17. I think I'm close enough to say "half". And the reason he has played so much is because he is versatile. He's spent a lot of time on the wing and has even appeared at right-back. Schneiderlin wouldn't do that.
What does 'Champions League standard' mean? Because I'm pretty sure he'd start for teams like Dinamo Zagreb, BATE Borisov and CFR Cluj, easily. If you mean top 4, then probably not good enough to start, no. He is better than Ramsey though, but then again who said Arsenal were going to finish top 4 this season...?
Too late from Arsenal if they really want Morgan now. Would have probably joined them maybe even upto a year ago. Now we will match or better what Arsenal would offer and without CL football Arsenal themselves might see a few stars leave that club in the summer.
