Make AW economic manager Bring Dein back Hire a new manager, if things have to come to that However I'm hoping that we can be successful with AW
There are a few people posting in this thread that seem to not understand the basics of finance in football, and a few others who bend the truth to further their own agenda. Spurs have spent far more than Arsenal over the years on players and have vastly more resources available than Arsenal. During their time in the premiership, Hull City spent more than Arsenal (net). Ox cost us 13 million but he is not on a wage-structure breaking salary. Most of the players we are linked with, "The 'A' Class players", demand far too high a salary for us to consider signing them. We would have to change our wage structure and it would end up costing us fa more in wages than the transfer fee. You can't sign Mata, and then pay him 50K/week more than Van Persie etc. The fact that we have to pay 13M for a player like Ox shows just how much of a gamble we have to take in order to sign a player. We have to spend our money on a lot of players with potential, and know many of them will not make it, as we simply cannot sign a establshed star. Wenger AND the board are doing a great job managing the club with the limited resources at our disposal. Arsenal do not have billionaire's money backing us. If we go too far into debt we further limit our operating budget and what we can pay our players declines, making the problem worse. If we spend on players and blow our security for a chance at success, we risk doing a Leeds United or a Newcastle, and being stuck with no option, other than to eek out a living at the bottom of the premiership. There is no team that can challenge for the title with 10 players injured at the same time. We need to be calm. We have players coming back and with a strong finish we can get up to 4th.
I wouldn't assume to take the high ground with our members if I were you. Do you think you're the only one who has considered the basics of finance? If anything you sound like a graduate from the Piskie SkOOL. Congratulations on your NVQ. Didn't like that, did you? Well, don't insult the rest of us then. If we don't make 4th I hope you'll recall these remarks of yours.
Not really sure what you are trying to say. Are we only allowed to insult Wenger and the people that are running the club? Insulting them without any good reason or logic is fine, but me pointing out the flaws in the logic, and flat out lies, is an insult too far? And what has not finishing 4th got to do with it? If there some reason you think Arsenal are entitled to finish above 5th? What makes us more entitled to finish there than any other club?
We are not insulting Wenger and those who run the club. What we do is ask why it is that they have allowed the club to fall away from competitiveness in the manner that it has. Or are you saying that this is not the case? Entitlement is not the issue. As Arsenal supporters, we would like to finish above fifth, preferably way above fifth, wouldn't you if you were a gooner?
This is rubbish. Total spending on players includes salaries and transfer fees and on this basis Arsenal have paid out more. Spurs current first XI cost around £50m and our salary bill is only about two thirds of yours.
