What I feared would happen has come to pass. Will be very difficult for ENIC to recover the PR onslaught or the strained goodwill from the supporters now.
Issues on a project this size are no great surprise and can arise from any number of factors. Someone who works for the club and posts on SSC says it's down to failures in the fire safety system. There's no way that it could have been foreseen by anyone in the club, nor could they have done anything to prevent it. Suggestion's that it might be software related. If this hadn't arisen, as envisaged, the stadium would have been ready to go for the Liverpool game, albeit not finished. Levy ****ed the transfer window. This is just one of those things. Still, for us non-ST holders, cheap tickets at Wembley.....every cloud and all that.
Good for ST holders who cant make it as well, getting 1/19 refunded for each match missed. Spurs won't lose out, it will be part of the liquidated damages claim.
I don't think so. Yes the likes of Hairy fekking Hotspunk will give it some sh!te but he is a cnut anyhow. It is noticeable the lack of fans from other clubs who have come onto this thread to take the piss. Everyone understands that the paying public are entitled to a safe as possible day out. Could you imagine a Hillsborough or Bradford type of tragedy in our opening match against the mousers? The stadium would be tainted for ever. ENIC would be finished. Common sense has prevailed. It must have been a hard decision to make to postpone the opening, but not a difficult one.
Not bemoaning elf and safety having their say. Ambitious IMHO to get new WHL ready in the target time frames. Also difficult to say what has eventually caused time to run out (as far as rectifying any failings arising from the test events goes) , unless you are on the high level construction mgmt team for new WHL.
Really don't see that. Today's news is tomorrow's chip paper. Yes it's a PR disaster for now, but provided the damage limitation works ok and the ground opens over the next couple of months then all will soon be forgotten. Delays on a project this size are almost inevitable - some people need a good dose of reality! Trouble is, in a society that allows every halfwit and feckwit the chance to spout to the world then things get exaggerated and engineered for media 'ends'. Hold the faith, mate!
My faith will be sorely tested this season. I am dreading what the stadium situation will now do to a squad that was not strengthened this summer in key positions, and is suffering a bad case of WC fatigue.
Surely too early to suggest our WC fatigue will impact more than our rivals. The minus of not strengthening is balanced by the benefits of an established squad and not having to integrate new players. Yes it could backfire, but whether the reasons for not pursuing targets were linked to club finances or purely choice we'll probably never know, but I would think the availability of funds would have not changed since the end of the season. Oh well, guess the truth will out
Here's a thought: perhaps the flaw in the fire safety system is intentional, as we sealed the fire exits for the away section for the inevitability of Chelsea fans dusting off their charming songs about Hitler, Auschwitz and gas chambers - at which point we seal the exits and release a pack of honey badgers into the crowd. Why kick racism out of football when you can tear its testicles off instead?
And now the geniuses at The FA say we can't switch out match with The Sheikh Mansour Team to the Etihad, yet as an NFL game is being played at Wembley that makes it a little complicated. Anyone got a big enough back garden?
The logical suggestion would be a postponement...but this is The FA we're talking about here, so apparently the match will be played at the nearest local park.
Why should City have to face extra fixture congestion purely to accommodate your delay? Not really fair is ir?
Again meaning City would suffer for your delay. We had to play 3 awaygames in a row last season in March and it's even worse a month later.
