Ah but unfortunately we participated in the 1985 Milk Cup Semi Final and guess who beat us....

But then I also forgot that we participated in the 2011 League Cup Semi Final <laugh>

God this is soooooooooo tiresome. Why don't you Binmen go and dig out your monochrome videos of when you once had a good team. Despite your 'history' your crowd of just 17,218 for the first game of the season proves just what a tinpot club you have become and just who is not only 'The Pride Of Anglia' but also the far bigger club of the two.

There you go, I took a big bite ! ;)

Reading Ipswich fans giving us jip about how few trophies Norwich have won is a bit like watching a midget mocking another midget for being a shortarse.

Or the definition of a cripple fight.

I've never bothered to look up about Ipswich's top division victory and UEFA Cup win, but this thread prompted me to do so.

I hadn't realised that Ipswich won the league immediately after promotion, for example, or indeed in their first season in the top flight. Burnley, of course, were their main competitors.

In the 1981 UEFA Cup run, Ipswich qualified by virtue of being third in the top division. You can only play what's in front of you, but their opponents being Aris Saloniki, Saint-Etienne, FC Koln and then AZ '67 (now Alkmaar) represented a very comfortable set of opponents, even then. As well as being fewer rounds than later competitions. Saint-Etienne were probably the toughest of that lot.

Interestingly, those were the days with two-leg finals, and Ipswich's 3-0 home win was enough to see them through despite a 4-2 defeat away.

Different times, then, though Ipswich's wins were undoubtedly impressive. The league win must go down as one of the most extraordinary. We're massively helped by our UEFA run being (a) in more recent memory and (b) being the very English fairy tale of the underdog taking on the massive favourite in spirit and style. Plus helped by an astonishing Goss goal. I do think, though, East Anglia on the whole have massively underperformed, particularly domestically. Just three cup wins between us and a half-century old league title is just not good enough, even for a region that's something of a backwater.

We are still in the Summer Holidays and a lot of people are still away on holiday. I understand that most of you poor peasants living in Norfolk can't afford to go away anywhere as your Giro cheque doesn't stretch that far! <laugh>

Ah, those were the days. Remember them? when the good European teams played in the European Cup, and sometimes the Cup Winners Cup. I don't think it happened often that the likes of Bayern or Inter even had to play in the UEFA Cup.

Do the Ipswich mafia still exist?

Or have they reformed and are now known as Ipswich Pride?

Banter aside even you boys must be really embarrassed by this Honours List that your club has published.

Is being a participant in the FA Cup Semi Finals really an honour?

When you eventually manage to get a point against Fulham I expect that this achievement will go down as an honour! <laugh>

Is it normal for the terms "school kids" and "Ipswich fans" to get mentioned in the same sentence?
