Had to double check I hadn't written all this in my sleep. Scarily accurate in how I feel.

Just heard Pearson`s rant at that poor journo, WOW!! Somebody is feeling a bit of pressure!! Never liked him when he was here. Very funny rant though!! Never heard a manager compare anyone to an ostrich before!! Genius!!! Our club however is more like a fcking DODO!

Pearson was a ****er as a player, is a ****er as a manager, but comparing a journalist with an ostrich is quality.

It may have, hardly relevant to his transfer business at Sunderland which bizarrely went from ****ing fantastic to some of the worst I've ever seen.

Hmm, anyone look at the Mackems remaining matches? I don't think they can do it. At best there's 4 points in there for them, and if they take 3, it's off leicester. As long as we don't lose this weekend we should be safe, even on 36 points.

If Mackems lose this weekend I think they're down and out. They're never going to get anything at Arsenal or Stanford bridge, and even Everton away..no way. They're like us, in a league below the rest of them league. If we pick up a couple of draws between now and the end of the season we should stay up. But what does that mean, I think next season we'll be gone as well. There's such rot everywhere, even in the U21. No one has any belief that we can win football matches anymore.

I hope we do stay up but I hope that Ashley sees the writing on the wall and realises that you cant run the club as a cash cow and it needs serious investment at all levels if we are going to move forward. We have been treading water since we finished 5th and you are right - chances are if we continue in same vein we will go down sooner or later. I would rather we did this as part of a one step backward as we are rebuilding as I think if we get relegated acting in same way we did this season it will be difficult to come back up.
The first part of the rebuilding has to be an ambitious young manager who is prepared to get involved in all aspects of the playing staff from the kids through to the first team and put development plans in place that allows us to identify and develop young players and give them a natural progression from development squads to first team. He also has to be given support to blood them when good enough. If that means us going down then fair enough - it will give us a good base for coming back up and building. How are we going to attract good youngsters if they see the current crop being loaned out with a view to a sale.
This continual buying of cheap Foreign players who stay one season if they are any good and forever if not cannot continue. Get them and commit to keeping them as a core of a team or dont bother buying them at all. The manager should be trying to build a first team squad that contains an equal mix of young homegrown players and experienced well-established players.
Hopefully Ashley can see the errors he made and realise how important it is that je changes tack.

I agree. We need a young manager who will build a team in the short term, but who also focuses on the long term. We need to create a whole philosophy that goes from the youth teams right up to the first team. We play a certain way so that kids can make the step up and fit seamlessly in to the first team. That is going to take time. Like a decade at the very least.

We need to stop with the cheap foreign imports. They don't work. Focus on building a team that will see us through several years and build on it each season. Players get sold, such is life. But replace them immediately. We need to buy in the short term whilst focusing on the above as the ultimate long term goal. Our scouting should focus on the lower leagues and non-league football. There are literally hundreds of players out there that don't get a look in because clubs focus on immediate success. The policy of not signing players over a certain age because they don't have re-sale value also needs to stop. Players shouldn't be viewed as commodities. Sign people that will make us better. Show some ****ing ambition.
