Constructive criticism is fine isn't it but the knee-jerking complaints about Mcgregor for not saving a shot are not valid criticisms but like somebody else posted 'bedwetting'. The team played great, there were individual errors but that does not mean the players making them should be crucified.
I'm not sure why people can't be critical of him making yet another poor save that has cost us points. He has had good games and he has had poor games. If we praise him after good games we should criticise him after poor games.
Disagree the defence where excellent. They where responsible for the first two goals, should of closed down Hazard and Costas much better. Without doubt though the team put in a monumental performance against Chelsea and where so unlucky not to get at least a point. It was a bit difficult as the TV presentation I was watching was in Norwegian but even I got their amazement of the way we had over double the attempts on goal that Chelsea had. Well done lads, keep it up for the rest of the season and we should be ok. One big problem is we have the bigger bunch of cheating bastards still to come to the KC, Arsenal.
Goal keeper is the hardest position in any football team to play, striker misses an open goal, " its hard luck mate" from his team mates, if a keeper mucks up then its the firing squad, my observations on McGregor are not just from yesterday but over this season and last, To me he seam's to be having a poor season compared to last season, tends to be rooted to his line, concentration seems to be poor this season, one instant yesterday just before h/t Mcshane was ushering a through ball back to him, he seamed to be somewhere else mentally totally switch off , he was just rooted to the spot, the fact is goalkeeping can be a thankless task, but if he's having a confidence problem then it needs addressing, before it spreads through the defence.
I think that is a much more valid point than blaming him for the 3rd goal. During that incident just before half time I was screaming at McGregor to wake up, he seemed to be in a day-dream. Is it purely a concentration thing? I say that because in games where we are under seige and he is busy he has been monumental, but he does seem to be taken by suprise sometimes. Maybe what we really beed is a number 2 keeper that can put some pressure on McGregor and step up for a prolonged spell if needed.
McGregor always makes me smile during a game because he interacts with the fans ( away fans also ) he's a breath of fresh air for me! The remy goal was too close for him to take any blame in my view! Like as been said earlier such a great team display shouldn't be shadowed by stupid twats with these threads.
Well your a bloody idiot! Maybe if he spent less rime interacting with the fans and morr time concentrating on the game, we would be at least 9pts better off
How dare he have a connection with the fans! If anyone on this thread is a bloody idiot, it's you. You bloody idiot.
Look, I love big Mac as much as anyone and think he's probably the best keeper we've ever had, definitely the best since boaz, but I don't see how anyone can call this a kneejerk reaction since this kind of sloppy error has been happening for some time now. He's flat footed, caught napping, beaten at near post far too much for a team that needs every point we can get. One other thing about our greegsy I hate is how he always seems rooted to his line when through balls get played behind our defenders which could really take pressure off. An example yesterday as well is a moment when there was a lobbed pass over our back line, and bruce hd to head the ball to Dawson instead of to the safer option of a goalkeepers gloves because Mac was still 20 yards away from play. Its a lot easier to relieve pressure when you have a goalkeeper you can trust to bail you out of the **** every now and then. He just needs to work on being 100% focused throughout a game and looking to do a bit more when he's not making saves and he'd be a fantastic goalkeeper.
McGregor has been match fixing since Lokeran away - just thought I would throw that out without having a shred of evidence to back it up.
sorry the greengrocer they were misspellings on my part, you are one to critisise mistakes, unfortuntely you pick up on mistakes that don't affect anybody and miss the mistakes that have cost us at least 12 points this season, how bizarre!
Your comment is an intelligent analysis so fair enough, the likes of Tigerpants are just having internet hissy fits. Mcgregor has his faults but not saving that shot yesterday was not a massive error, just one of those things, like has been said the defence and especially Daws were more culpable in conceding goals that put us 2-nil down. Daws can't back off as much as he does, the amount of goals we have conceded via players backing off (the Shelvey one immediately springs to mind as well as the two yesterday) is more of a defensive concern rather than the keeper going early for a point blank shot and not re-adjusting his position in time
so untrue its laughable. so because I say our GK has made too many mistakes and has had another poor performance, that is different to what this guy says. You need to go brush your teeth, all the s**t you talk! Daws job is to defend and I agree, he made bad errors but for 80% of the game he did his job. Of the 3 shots Mcgregor had to save he did 0% of his job, its a fact. I'm not saying he's a bad GK, but I don't think he's a premier league level.
He is however also beaten far too often from distance, we have conceded more goals from outside the box than any other team in the PL. I'm sorry, but any PL goalkeeper should be saving that third shot. The MOTD pundits said so, as did Deano. That's a bread and butter save for a goal keeper.
