I strongly dis agree with this. There is no click here,both myself and Ash have taken a very relaxed approach to Daiswan gate !! there comes a time when you have to concern yourself with the many and not the few,thats where we are now, there was too much disruption to the board and that was affecting the input of valued members.

I understand people fall out now and again and there is often bickering as a result,that is norml,its not a perfect world at the end of the day. I think we as MODS try to do anything other than get involved but sometimes there is no option. Its a difficult task to try and please everyone on here and as other posters have mentioned they dont agree with Dai having a temp ban,problem is that we were left with little choice and basically had no option other than to take the sting out of the situation as best we could, if somebody doesnt respond to being warned about their conduct then what lse can you do ?

I have been a very strong supporter of Daiswans input over the years, nothing wrong with left field views but he doesnt actually debate anything anymore,its his view and everyone else is an Idiot! supply the guy with the truth and the correct facts and you are still branded an idiot1 that is not creating debate !! look up the definition of the word debate and you will see what i mean.

Mods have to serve the overall majority IMO, if a hundred people tell you a Horse is Black and five say its White then most rational people tend to listen to the Majority.

Im all for people chirping in from other boards but unless you understand the dynamics of our forum you really dont have that much of a clue as to how difficult this poster has become. Its not a flash in the pan its something that has been getting progressively worse over the past few months,to the point where nobody actually knows if the guy follows his home team or not !! im sure he is a proud jack of course but it doesnt excuse his subtle WUMS over many months and indeed years. As i said before, i can take the odd winding up on the forum, it adds to the flavour and there is a devil inside all of us, its when it crosses over to less debatable content, content triggered for the response and subtle WUM material that it becomes an issue. Baiting a trap if you like!

This is where we are at with Dai. I like the guy very much but there is a thing called respect, its the only way a forum can work,dis-agreeing about stuff is easy enough but rubbing up regular posters on a regular basis is not on, he has moved steadily in this direction in the last few months ,i suspect because he has been embarrased on a few issues where his "facts" were put to the test and were found to be wide of the mark and very often totally wrong,the result of this has been a tendency to target and antagonise the induviduals who have called him out on his posts, a personal vendetta if you like but disguised as genuine content.

That is also one of the reasons this has been a long game in terms of what the MODS have done, he had to be left alone long enough so that the majority of regular posters could see the fall in his genuine content,once its clear to many then its easier to sort out and therefore it does not become the witch hunt some less involved posters think it is

KJ you are a 100% correct. I have always supported his right to hold left field views, when there are one or two posters at loggerheads its not a major problem but as we are seeing now its 2,3,4,5,6 etc etc . its all about the greater good of the forum. We are at tipping point with Dai now,as others have said "let it go over your head" thats fine and what i do as a poster but as a MOD i need to take the view of how do the majority feel about it and should there be any action over it.

Ash was 100% correct to temp ban him and i feel i had no other choice but to close his thread when he refused to debate and carried on making silly comments.

 

Kj, I myself don't agree with banning one of our own. I tried to take a relaxed view of it and gave him a warning. He choose to ignore my warning and abuse me. Had he taken my warning, the matter was done and I'd be happy in the fact we'd managed to sort things amicably. He chose the hard rope sadly.

I like Dai, I like some of his posts no matter how outrageous at times, but its gone to far this week. He didn't use bad words against us, but he still decided to slate us on another board.

Anyhow, he'll be back at 10pm, I'm sure he'll have some input.

NJ & Ash. At the end of the day it's not as if Dai hasn't been sailing very close to the wind and he's also been warned, so for what it's worth I respect the decision even if it's not something I would have done myself.

Page, I was specifically referring to the posts that Dai put on your board slagging off some fellow Swansea posters. I do not see any Liverpool fans coming to our board and doing the same. I don't like it and I said so. Nothing hypocritical about that.

As for cross posting on other club's boards, I know a lot of it goes on. It's not something that I do because I can't be bothered. I'm only concerned about my own club but I do enjoy "foreign" posters when they have something constructive to contribute to a thread as it's often good to get an outside perspective on things.

As I said, I usually steer clear of these issues. I am here to debate football, share opinion and learn to appreciate what others think, not get involved in slanging matches etc. The mods have an impossible task. They can't please everyone. If they ban, they're damned. If they don't ban, they're also damned. They can only try and apply common sense and gauge the general feeling of the board to maintain harmony.

One thing that disrupts harmony is showing disrespect to fellow posters. People don't come on here to be insulted and Dai has a marked tendency to start calling people idiots etc, when they don't agree with him. I know because he did it to me and I had to take issue with him about it. Further, the tone of many of his posts is very condescending. I will never accept anyone talking down to me and I know that others feel the same. Dai does a lot of this in my opinion.

It's a shame really because he often makes some good and valid points when he posts. If he stuck to that instead of belittling other poster's opinions, there wouldn't be a problem. But he compounds the situation by going on to the Liverpool board and starts slagging people off there. NOT acceptable, in my opinion.

As for banning posters, I find it very sad that it happens from time to time. But there's no smoke without fire and there is usually a reason for it. Sometimes that reason justifies a ban, sometimes maybe not but that is for the moderators to decide. They are doing us all a service with the work they put in on this board. It's not an easy job, it's time consuming, the board would descend into chaos without them and they get bugger all for doing it. So, as far as I'm concerned, I accept their decisions and, when I don't, it will be with very good reason and I will let them know about it.

I hope Dai doesn't take the hump and stay away because he can offer decent input and, from my own point of view, that's what I want to see as opposed to the other stuff that has upset people.

Talking of Liverpool,I don't know what's more shocking: the attempt to fix 380 football matches, or that Liverpool could only score 1 goal against a team whose keeper was paid to concede 3.
