Dear Pompeymeowth, you are quite right I do not dislike or even hate all Pompey fans. I will say it very quietly as I have a reputation to maintain but I do have some friends, in fact quite a few, who support Pompey and continue to do so despite all of my efforts to get them to see the light. You denegrate me for my attitude but I believe that to call anyone scum is disgraceful, I can live with stains or references to ponies but to label a mass of unknown people as scum is something that Pompey fans should be ashamed of. Then to add insult to injury they have tried to explain it away with a piece of pure fiction about strike breaking.
 
With no more football and little transfer speculation it is the open season again for trading insults with our neighbours. It happens every year about this time.

I am going to rise above it (if I can) and not be beastly to Pompey's fine band of supporters. It should be easy as I know all three of them. Opps sorry I couldn't help it.
 
St Godders..........This is a message from the moderators of this board as we speak as one. Everyone is welcome on this board including any Portsmouth fans. What will not be tolerated is any display of personal remarks from either camp. This site is not like the old 606. Banter will be tolerated, personal attacks will not. If you have chosen to bring your dislike of our neighbors over here that is your prerogative. If you choose to use your dislike in any way other than banter we will stop you. The subscribers to this board have made it clear they do not wish this site to deteriorate into the way the old 606 went. We are not saying you should not express your views, but be clear, we will not allow anyone to antagonise if it is brought to our attention.
That applies to everyone on the site, that is the wishes of the majority of Saints subscribers. If the fans tell us they do not like something it does not matter whether we the moderators agree or not, that is what will be applied. We will get people on here that will disrespect our subscribers and the club they will be dealt with, have no doubt. Just as the one was the other evening. If you do not wish to see posts from certain people which is your right...add them to your ignore list. That way you will not be aggravated. We have had virtually little or no problems on this sight for about 4.5 months. The odd occasion it has started to raise its ugly head it was dealt with. On each occasion every one that was posting at the time backed and helped the moderators. To date no person has been banned every thing has been sorted out amicably. I am sure you and all subscibers would prefer that is the way to do things.
So by all means post but please cut out your aggresive posts, they are not wanted.

Thank you Beddytare, you have my full support, I guess I should have chosen ignore rather than responding, but felt some things had to be said.
 
Well said Beddytare, the above reactions to our fellow football fans down the road was the very reason I chose not to sign up for the BBC 606 as it just got into a slanging match on every thread. I have lived in and around Portsmouth all my life and have neither had any problems with the Pompey fans, best friend is a Pompey fan and I can actually walk down my road in a Saints shirt , I have to take a bit of banter but nothing you wouldnt get from every other fan. To back this up I couldnt afford a season ticket this season due to impending redundancy , when it finally happen happend my leaving present from a Portsmouth based company was tickets to the final six home games of the season bought by a Pompey fan who drove to the stadium to get the tickets because as a fellow football fan they knew it was more important to see Saints get promoted rather than some poxy watch which was the standard leaving present. Good natured banter is it all should ever be with our fellow football fans from down the road and looking forward to two cracking derbies and hope they are both played in the right matter.
 
Second all that has been said. Not606 is an oasis of reason. Abuse is rightly not tolerated, and yet I have been able to get away with banter which the old site would never have allowed. It's a question of doing it subtly. Most of the Pompey lads are a good laugh and visit our boards en-masse, debating away to a very high standard.
 
One of my favorite tipples to boot..............ugh........... enough to put me off beer for life......<laugh>

I have to say Chocolateboxkid I am really disappointed with you and others who have mocked this soft hearted and well meaning man.

This man cannot help his features, his favourite tipple or the club he supports. I am sure someone loves him very much.

What you should remember is that he is a well respected businessman and a pillor of his local community. His shop contibutes to the intellectual life of his town and I am sure he loves his favourite football team as much as you love yours.

You must learn to be more tolerant and understanding of people who are different to you. You owe it to him to make up for the hurt you have no doubt caused him and the only way I think you could possibly make amends is to give him a big hug and a kiss the next time you see him.

I feel it is disgraceful that you and others have chosen to mock this man. That is quite cruel and totally out of keeping with the new friendly ethos of this website. This is not what I expected to see on this site least of all from one of it''s key moderators and I am sure Beddytare will no doubt have something to say about it.

Someone has to put a stop to this.
 
Buddie.........A little tongue in cheek doesn't hurt anyone........I'm quite sure CBK is more than capable of a reply with just as much bite without being offensive............It certainly brought a smile to my face anyway..............Fran it seems was wetting her knickers cause she thought there was a picture of me on there, when she found it wasn't she was so disappointed......<laugh>
