Fair play to her, a nomadic lass to say the least......Born in Oz to Hungarian parents, based in Eastborne since 2005 but moved her training camp to Spain in 2012........maybe the Spanish will also claim some credit.......

Whatever happens she has come on in leaps and bounds and carries the hopes of a nation along with Andy Murray......Good Luck to them.

Blimey, she must be stronger than Serena then, she only carries that net thing she is always waving about.

I just can't get excited about an Australian born Hungarian. She is now a British Citizen, but she's not British.

It's a difficult one. Mo was here from a young age, so I suppose he is easier to accept.
I've never agreed with South Africans playing for England's cricket team.

I just think that, you need to have either a British Mum or Dad or to have been born in Britain to represent the Country in sport.

I think it also differs from individual sports as opposed to team ones. It's easier to become assimilated into a team without it being so blatant. Especially rugby where there is a team of fifteen.

It may just be me but I can't understand this Johanna Konta thing. Why would she want to become British when she has no connection whatsoever to Britain? The cynic in me feels that she has just done it to take the kudos of being the first Brit since .... ? to win a title. Plus all the glory and publicity that comes with it. The same goes for Laura Robson and Greg Rusedski. In an individual sport you get all that anyway whichever country you represent. I don't get it.

Out to the Germans in the semis; seems strangely familiar.

    Completely agree.
Has Laura Robson not got an English parent?
