Pretty much agree with that. He finally showed some ambition a couple of years ago and we spent the third most of any club in Europe. Unfortunately we had the wrong person buying them and the wrong person coaching them once they arrived. It's hard to know which was worst as some of them have gone on to do well elsewhere (ie Wijnaldum) so maybe they weren't all bad buys. From Ashley's point of view though it seems to be a case of 'been there, tried that' and it ended up in relegation. Now he is much less likely to do it again.

This blinded me to the rest of the post. I'm guessing you mean something low-skilled and minimum wage.

Stop putting the lad down. He's quite a good defender....

....when he's playing in attack for the other team!

    Just looked at your signings

Wijnaldum was flipped for profit around £10m?
Thauvin you've got your money back.
Mitrovic you may take a small hit on if you sold.
Mbemba is still young and £8m is nowt.
Shelvey is worth £12m all day.
Townsend you got your money back.
Saivet looks like your only crap buy from that year.

Whatever losses you'd take from that lot will be more than covered by the huge profit you made on Sissoko.

You probably wasted a good chunk of that on pap in the Championship but that's the risk you take to come straight back up.

I doubt MA is looking at that outlay and feeling burned, he just seems not bothered by football in general. Very strange.

I was thinking more from the point of view that he would look at it and think investing big made no difference. I hope I'm wrong.

Out of the ones mentioned above I really hope we keep hold of Mbemba (and not just so I don't have to change my username). He was our best defender by a mile in our relegation season, though Rafa doesn't seem that keen on him. As for Mitrovic - I have never wanted a player to succeed as much as him. If he ever comes good then he will be the sort of player that fans of every other team would hate and that we would idolise. I am still hopeful as he is young and manages to perform for Serbia. He is running out of chances though.

If you ordered a Burger King Meal and were served by Riviere, you'd open the box to find a single Chicken McNugget. With a bite out of it.

Have to disagree. Yes, you'd open the box. Yes, there would be a single chicken mcnugget in. But no there wouldn't be a bite out of it. The single chicken mcnugget would have teeth marks on it where he tried to take a bite but failed.

Ashley's in football only because he can't get someone to buy us and give him his money back. He is not interested and just wants the club to be self-sufficient - I think he came to one game last season which was the last home game (correct me if I'm wrong people). He's not going to put more of his own money in but honestly I don't think he necessarily should. We can certainly claw our way back up the league but it will be difficult and take a few years. I think the best we could ever hope for would be to get back on parity with Everton and be consistently in the top 8 as we are inherently a similar sized club to them. Beyond that it's going to take a lot of luck in the transfer market and on the pitch or a sovereign state to buy us to get much higher; Tottenham are a bigger club than us and with their new stadium we won't catch them financially.

At the present moment we have a problem with cash flow due to the high cost of relegation and it is seriously hampering Rafa's ability to improve the squad. If we stay up we will not have that problem in the future so much since we will have the EPL TV money in the coffers and we can move forward properly from then on.

Any job where he has to successfully put something into a box wouldn't be an ideal job for him. Maybe working in a pub where everything has to go over the bar would be more suitable.

With his wealth, he should be putting more in. He should be paying as much as he can to have Sports Direct emblazoned everywhere but the tight fisted thick cockney tw@t won't, he gives and gets for free. He could write off the debt and he wouldn't even notice it, but he won't. He could find better sponsors from Firetrap, Dunlop, Slazenger, Lonsdale and boost our spending power, therefore our wider appeal and success, but he won't. He could employ someone useful, with experience, to replace hapless Charnley but he won't. He could, with change from his back pocket, revamp our training facility properly so the likes of Brighton, West Ham and Bournemouth don't put us to shame, but he won't.

He is "allowing" the club to spend what it generates but does not one goddam thing to help our commercial outlook. Under him with all the riches previously on offer and an unblemished record in the EPL he has taken us down twice, ffs.

Any success is 100% in spite of Mike fcking Ashley and nothing he has ever done has been good for the club or the City of Newcastle. Better the devil you know my hairy asshole. Sickens me to my core to think we've had a decade of this tossbag with no sign of release. Mark my words with him sat there we will go down again, nothing is more certain.

Only loathe Shepherd more for his irresponsibility and the fact he (and Hall) sold to the fat moron.

Look, it's his choice, it's his money but he's almost killed the club at times and more often than not stuck a middle finger up to the fans. It wouldn't take much in the grand scheme of his billions to make us an ambitious, stable PL club. He deliberately chooses not to. He spent more of his personal cash (£110m) buying up some real estate in London just to inflate his own pockets than he's ever afforded Newcastle United (loans don't count!). He could do what they do on a smaller scale at City, at Chelsea, by adding realistic sponsors for Darsley Park, for the third kit, for the U-21's, etc.

He's endemic of a wider problem in economic divides but as he's affiliated himself with the club - not the other way around, the club didn't choose him by the way, and I believe Hall sold to him on the basis of a stack of lies and bullpoop - then he can take the brunt of my ire.

Trust me - there's absolutely nothing in your post above that I disagree with and ultimately that's the biggest frustration.

It wouldn't actually take that much effort to kick start the process.

Elsewhere I've seen Spurs discussed (even Everton) - I would honestly say if we followed their model, in about 5-7yrs we'd be competing at the lower end of the top 8.

I wouldn't mind the wait, if I genuinely thought the club was pulling in that direction.

Ultimately and unfortunately this coming season is about survival, nothing more nothing less - we do that and then we can kick on

Do find it very weird that we don't whore ourselves out to sponsors like the majority of the league, especially when the rumour was we went Dutch on transfers to coincide with MA's attempts to grow Sports Direct over there. Heard no word on us even getting the sleeve sponsor for the shirt.
He is a businessman so why hasn't he employed someone to be specifically sorting all this?
I hated Shephard and eyes tend to roll when I see more of his ingenious input on what NUFC needs. What they needed was a decent owner years ago you Muppet.
Yet I hate MA more because I do think Shephard thought this guy would help. In fairness he played the game at first, all that nauseating drinking with the fans in his XXXL NUFC shirt. At first I, stupidly, was optimistic. Then it all changed and off came the NUFC shirt like some kind of mask.
Shephard's the idiot, Ashley the vindictive. Shephard was like the Redknapp of the owner's world. Ashley actively attacked fans with his choices
I'm in the same boat where I know for a fact this **** will NEVER get a manager of Rafa's calibre again and relegation will come. As long as Benitez is here I'm going to enjoy it because the minute he goes I'll be the biggest doom-monger on here.
We may have shut up but, fans of other teams should not mistake, we all hate Ashley with a passion
