The problem has always been May and her Ministers negotiating in isolation from the rest of Parliament a backstop deal that’s untenable. The point I’m making is that the people can’t decide in a referendum to do a deal that won’t be ratified, and if the EU and our government and MPs all agree on a deal there is no need for a referendum. So in what scenario do you end up with a binary deal or no deal Brexit referendum?
But this is exactly the scenario we are in,May was voted in by her own Party to do a job and endorsed (to a limited extent) by the country at a General Election. She did what she was tasked with and then found it wasn't "acceptable" to large swathes of her own Party. It's an ironic counterpoint to the whole argument about people not knowing what they were voting for at the 2016 Referendum!
