Yeah, I saw that Nines, but I was nevertheless hoping that they'd still consider maintaining/updating the apps. Okay though the formatting is via my mobile web browser, I'm still totally convinced that having standalone apps for this site was what always gave it the edge over other football forums, and would still have been the way to go. The mobile web interface is just by its inherent nature too fiddly and messy for my taste. Amongst other things, every time I open my shortcut for the site it opens another tab, whilst other times I follow a link and will accidentally leave the site completely, which means that I have to search for the site all over again, in the process open and close yet more tabs. The mobile web version looks okay enough, and I can work my way around it, but I honestly cannot agree with Mick that the user experience through a mobile web browser is or can ever be anything like as smooth, simple and easy to use as an updated dedicated app would have been. That's just my opinion though.
I worked in a corner shop for 80 pence an hour until I could afford to buy one having said that I think I was stealing 5 pounds an hour in drinks and chocolate
Could do with a refresh button at bottom of thread, or live refresh, which would be good for matchday threads
A live refresh would be nice option, but not sure what kind of strain that would put on the website. You can also achieve this by using browser page reload (or F5), or the white downward arrow, on blue background, located at bottom right, to quickly navigate to the lastest post on a page, although with the amount of traffic on the matchday thread the pages tend flip over quite quickly.
Cheers pal, but use browser on my phone so F5 refresh not an option. The address bar with refresh option auto-hides to give full page view on phone (I use Dolphin browser) Could put a refresh button at end of page count row at bottom of thread?
It means you're watching the thread. Somewhere in your profile settings there's an option to automatically watch threads that you've posted in. What that does is give you a notification (top right of the page) whenever a post is made in that thread regardless of who makes it or which post they've clicked reply to. You also get them on any thread when someone replies directly to one of your posts, or quotes you in their post as well. They're all settings that can be enabled or disabled if you want to.
Thanks Ric. I'd still like to be able to see who else is viewing the thread I'm looking at though. If I'm posting I demand an audience!
I think they are still in the testing phase and that the site still is slightly sporadic. Hopefully it will be sorted out in due course.
I wonder if there's a way to encourage more people to create an avatar? It's hard to distinguish between posters at the moment!
Mate, I feel your pain, I need arrows in my life, if I don't get my daily arrow fix then I become agitated and withdrawn. Here is some arrows if this helps for the time being! please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
