To be honest it's this that has got me feeling quite positive (about a sale) Signing a manager who was prepared to be sacked for not wearing the corporate suit just doesn't sound like them at all, and the fact he kept referring to Hull City made me hope that he knows that the Allam's can have no real influence on him because he's the next owners man Maybe I'm wrong (it being the hope that kills you of course!)
He didn't really get sacked for not wearing the suit lol. They had a replacement and had to BS a reason to sack a manager who just won their first silverwear in 7 years.
They'll have already settled out of court Check your bank balance, and see if you hide some elsewhere
You do too, Bombay Sapphire is my favourite Gin, nothing like a lovely Gin and Tonic with ice and limes on a hot summers day.
Saw a Rick Stein programme in the Far East where a woman said massage a lime by rolling it about under your palm and you get more juice out. He was sceptical but says it works.
Does anyone know if Marco took any players with him from Sporting to Olympiacos? He seems loyal to his staff in that they follow him wherever he goes, just wondered if that was likely to apply to any players? I'm assuming if we do sign players they will have to be players he knows of, has worked with and trusts implicitly. I just can't see there being time to bring in players he has not worked with before and getting them up to speed with 'the plan'. I very much get the impression he wants to hit the ground running.
Well it sounds like he's known he was coming in for a while so I would hope he can move quickly with his signings.
I think that's actually an immediate dilemma for him, Pete. Ideally he needs to assess our 'best team' as soon as he can. The problem is that he needs our best team for the EFL Cup semi-final at Old Trafford on Tuesday and for the home game against Bournemouth the following Saturday too. Our current squad is already overstretched, especially losing Mbokani & Elmo to ACON, with no immediate replacements and little time for any new additions to gel with the squad. A few posters have made comments that some of our players are in need of a rest (e.g. Davies). I think the lapses in concentration and the concession of poor goals in recent matches are partly due to that. Silva already has an incredibly difficult task ahead to keep us up. Assessing and managing the squad this month will be particularly challenging with our heavy fixture list, especially if we progress further in the FA Cup or need a replay. It will be interesting to see how he approaches this.
I agree about our squad being overstretched but is the number of games an excuse regarding lack of concentration? I still find it hard to believe the accepted wisdom that playing on Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday is too much for professional sportsmen. Silva has been watching all the games he's wanted to watch. Getting them to do what he wants will be a challenge but he seems a no nonsense kind of guy. Winning a certain number of games which would look like we would stay up seems a tall order but, as Patty said, we only have to get four more points than the three above us. That seems a lot easier to do.
'And its Hi-Ho Silva lining Anywhere you go Marco I see your sun is shining And We're staying up because we're good enough Hat..Coat. Door..
