I hope everyone is patient and gives the new management / coaching team sustained support through all the tough times still to come this season. Make no mistake, they have a mountain to climb not only getting the players to play better, but also to reverse the negative ethos of their predecessors. We are going to still lose matches and until everyone is on the same page we could see a few shambolic performances, but the key is how we react. If the supporters back Silva and his coaches they could succeed in keeping us up.
They are entitled to the perks, John. Now I just had a few days of abstinence and then everything changes mallarkey blew it out of the water. Discovered my kith and kin had left me a decent portion of Bombay Sapphire Gin, a smidgeon of decent Tonic and some limes. I chopped the limes and they were tight, no juices flowing. Missus says, 'give them 20 seconds in the microwave' and hey presto, just a bigger glass and more ice. Whoops, glass half full again. Looking forward to what this lad can bring to our club. Happy New Year, John. You know your onions.
I am reliably informed, that Phelan had absolutely no involvement in the Mason signing, he was a Bruce target and Ehab went to meet Levy and sorted the deal all in his lonesome. Bet Dad's well impressed.
This is spot on, and remember Phelan was universally loved at first (well apart from a couple who were making a weird point about Bruce) then that all changed because he played someone in an incorrect position or chose the wrong formation, and correct me if I'm wrong Craig, but I'm sure you were one of those people. People on here seem to think that picking a different team to what they'd have picked is unforgivable and always the reason for a bad result. At some point he's going to do something that people disagree with. Starting Marshall will probably be the first one. Hopefully he still gets support unlike Phelan. I don't really think it'll make a huge difference to his success, but it'll make us look less like dicks.
You are wrong. I didn't want Phelan as manager because I felt he at least shared the blame with Bruce for the dire, negative football we have become known for. I had to argue that point with a few on here when people were getting carried away after 3 results
I was one who wanted Phelan in the first place, he maybe didn't have the best conditions to take over and I do feel for him. It was however, the right decision, Phelan was getting the big decisions wrong in every match and it was time for him to go. Really excited about Silva, if we do go down, I would hope he would stay, but I think we have a good chance to stay up now, looking forward to seeing his first team sheet.
We have a reasonable run in that could see us moving up the table out of the relegation zone if Silva gets the team organized and playing creative football. I still believe we have the players to keep us up if Jak is put back in goal, if Snodgrass stays, and we add a decent striker. Swansea, Sunderland, and Palace or Boro down. 14th is doable.
