I am one of those who genuinely support Sunderland and probably have done for longer than most if not all of the posters here on Not 606. One of the things I feel I have a right to complain about is the fact that we should play our strongest team and strive to do our best and finish as high as possible in this division. I consider that Henderson is not playing to his full capabilities because in the first instance he is worn out (he's played more games than anyone else in the team) This has led to a deterioration in his performance and I think he should be rested before his confidence goes. He's a good player and could maybe become a great one but he should be handled a bit better than he is be being at the moment, give the kid a bit of time off and he may come back better than he is now
Well put Cest agree with most of what you are saying and to be honest having a go when the lads play poorly is fine by me. However we do seem to have a number of so called Sunderland fans who will have a go at any player they don't like. You cannot be a world beater every game and Jordan is finding out how hard it is to do that, just ignore the obvious player bashing posts as most are either meant as a joke or are not worth looking at. Good news about Welbeck lets hope SB uses his head with him and doesn't push him to play.
Think you said it all cess, as for tomorrow, not expecting much, just hope the lads put up a good show, and not embarrass us, fingers crossed and all that.
rokereconomic - my point being, you, like others who shall remain nameless, choose to spam threads by having a pointless dig at henderson. honestly, i would rather have stupid wums come on here and try and rile us than listen to others, who i know support sunderland as strongly as me, have a go at our players, good players, just for the hell of it. in truth, i agree wholeheartedly with your later post about henderson (unlike others who HATE him, for reasons unknown, whose attitude was more what my initial post was directed at), it just saddens and angers me to see people have a go at the best sunderland-born sunderland player in more than a generation at any opportunity they can, when at the moment there's not much he can do about it, and no easy way to draw him out of the firing line.
I am neither a spammer or a WUM and am aggrieved that you should say so. Maybe I could have been a little more subtle in my statement and I apologise for being so brusque. I still maintain that in my opinion Jordan Henderson is not playing to the standard that we know he can, as he has shown us in the past. Why is this? He certainly hasn't become any less of a player in such a short time, so there has to be a reason. He is a talented, gifted player, but he is young and hasn't developed fully yet. He has played more minutes on the pitch than any other member of the team and I consider that it is now taking it's toll. The lad needs a bit of time off and a holiday. Surely Bruce is aware of the drop in standard (if the fans can see it, surely Bruce can) If he continues to play the lad I think it's a dangerous ploy on Bruce's part. He'll end up blowing Jordan's confidence out of the water and we'll have lost a bloody good player. I don't know what Bruce can do about it, I know we have injury problems but he is playing a dangerous game. That and only that is why I don't think Jordan Henderson should be on that 'plane.
Great news regarding Wellbeck hopefully fraizer is back soon too but i fear it will be next season before we see the real Campbell again. As for the Henderson bashing i think its justified to an extent as he seems to be not putting a shift in at the moment. I know its not his game to fly into tackles and rough up the opposition but when things arent going so well the fans love to see a bit of passion and fight. Fans will forgive misplaced passes if the effort is being put in and a lad is fighting for the shirt but im not sure Henderson is doing that at the moment. I still dont think we should write him off as hes definately got something about him but maybe a rest will make him see he is not undroppable.
rokereconomic - again, i wasn't really referring to you, though i don't see the need for your remark, and i happen to agree with you about what's best for hendo, i just feel that bashing the lad constantly becomes self-fulfilling: the more it happens the more people look for things to criticise, the less support he gets from the stands, the more his confidence and form drops, the worse he gets, the more he's criticised, until we're left with half the player we had.
I totally agree with what you say but I must say in my defence that nowhere on this thread will you find that I have "bashed" Jordan Henderson. Actually I'm quite an admirer of the lad and am sorry to see how his performances have dipped. Give the lad a bit of time off and I'm sure that we'll see an improvement. Peace Brother!!
Hello Chestermackem-- have you recovered yet from that thrashing that was going to be handed out at the Empty Stadium of Light?? I hope so, I know you've been very quiet of late-- I was starting to worry. By the way how do you know that the top 4 rate Henderson?? and how do you know who the top 4 are?? Just wondering like !
Just seen an interview with arse in vinegar on the TV - he was very respectful of the Sunderland team - the man has gone up in my estimation. Heres hoping the lads get a result today.
Just a wild guess this but could it be that its been in the newspaers for a few months and Cest finds the top 4 by looking at the prem table, looking at the top and seeing who are in first, second, third and fourth places. Like I say, just a wild guess, could be wrong.
Those words are too big Syd they just don't understand words of more than one syllable here's me thinking Cest just pulled the top 4 out of a hat or something just for the hell of it.
Great to see Welbeck back....20 minutes from him to today will do us the world of good...he'll be chomping at the bit!!! Regarding Hendo...i have slated him in the past for bottling big occasions (Derby's)...except for the Chelski game....it is just obvious that the lad is mentally exhausted and is currently doing the minimal amount he can to get throuigh the game.....at the start of the season he was always looking for the forward, cutting, through ball..spraying balls all over the place. Now i rarely see him pass other than sideways or backwards.... He doesn't tackle...never has and will be something that comes into huis game later.... It is evident from last season, and first half of this, that he is a massive boost to the team on form. He needs a rest, but the team can't do that at the moment, it would be foolish. We have a history of getting on top of our out of form players, always going for the 'stick' approach...when really what would be great for Jordan is to have 48,000 fellow mackems putting a huge shoulder round him, slapping him on the arse and reminding him of what he can do...not of his failings. He's gonna score today anyway, then there will be silence
