I actually think Welbeck may be the better all round player when it comes to things like work rate, strength, hold up play, heading, linking up with others, heading ability and so on, however Walcott is quicker when running behind defenders plus he is a much, MUCH better finisher, and as a striker finishing is a key attribute, it's probably why Chicharito is usually preferred to Welbeck at the minute too, Danny is the better player but I'm always confident Hernandez is going to bury his chances, I can't say the same for Welbeck unfortunately.
well said Welbeck is all better all round player .. but when it comes to needing a goal, Sir Alex may introduce chicha .. walcott tick only one box which is his pace... his finishing is improving but still way behind many strikers in PL, for a striker, he can't head the ball, little ball skills, not strong enough, ..etc.
With delusion like that he's odds on to sign for Liverpool... Last season there wasn't much to choose between Welbeck and Walcott imo, but this season Walcott has really come into his own as a striker whilst Welbeck has struggled to keep his form up. Danny still has the edge is terms of work rate and link up play, but Walcott is showing much more as an out and out striker. I wonder how much of that is due to RVP moving from Arsenal to Utd. Either way, Walcott is the better of the two this season.
If Welbeck played for Stoke or Sunderland he'd be nowhere near Englands starting XI. I just don't get the fuss around the lad, his scoring record is poor & he's often anonymous in games, sorry just not having him, Walcott is a far superior player imo.
I'd be interested to see how Rooney and Walcott play together, I rate Walcott as a prospect yet have major doubts about Wellbeck. Wellbeck misses too many chances and when he's played wide his final ball is ****. I understand and appreciate the need to stock with him though, no harm at all in giving local lads the opportunity to shine and progress and when he's got such great players in Rooney and RVP around him, and also a finisher in Hernandez, he should improve. He's worth sticking with for a while as we're well stocked in the striker department but our defenders are otuscoring him at the moment, the jury is well and truly out on him. Walcott on the other hand, I think he's a cracking player. Worth a go at centre forward tonight.
his work rate, closing down, pace and link up is vital for UTD to feed the system .. not even walcott can do that and tbh if Walcott was in stoke too he will not be in england squad as well .. he only be called to the england team once moved to Arsenal and just for the record .. Welbeck did get his first call for england when he was on loan in Sunderland after impressing in the season and played facing Ghana in the same season, so your argument is not valid
Walcott was 16 when he joined Arsenal. Being selected for England any younger would have been quite some achievement. As Welbeck isn't a first choice player I don't see how he can be vital to United's system. Anyone rating the current Welbeck over the current Walcott is rabidly biased.
i was referring to his argument that welbeck get his call only because he plays for UTD while that will not be the case of Walcott.. when in reality the opposite was the case, with Walcott been called just because he was the kid been signed by Arsenal, where Welbeck earned his first cap while playing on loan for sunderland Welbeck is been chosen recently ahead of Nani, Giggs, Valencia and Kagawa in the flanks .. the system in UTD is different, we have 2 classy strikers and they need someone to do the hard work and feed them and link up the mid as I said both are 2 different type of players, but welbeck fit the UTD system well and internationally, Welbeck scoring rate is : 35% while Walcott is 13%.. can't remember last time Walcott impressed in england shirt, may be i need to go back to 2008 when he scored the hat-trick.. that is how much he has been poor since
so he's being selected on the flanks to link up play between midfield and the strikers, right, gotcha.
Walcott is the better player at the moment, though I do feel Welbeck has the potential to be the better all round player, if he can become more clinical
Vital? That vital that he's starts on the bench most weeks? Ok, whatever you say. Welbeck was a United player out on loan, but still a United player.
he do make runs into channels at the flanks, but do runs in mid too, he like to run with balls into holes and pass around, even Drogs highlighted that his link up play is his one of his main qualities
sure he is not as vital as RVP or rooney but his contribution fit the system well ... he started our last 4 games in PL, what that tells you?
