Apart from the obvious bias, has to be Wegerle's surely?

I was genuinely disappointed when I saw Payet's goal, it had such a big build up.

I was at Leeds that day to witness Roy Wegerle's goal. When I heard how Payet's goals was described, I thought it would be on the same level as Wegerle's but for not. Not saying that Payet's goal was rubbish, just think that Wegerle's was better as he had to run further with the ball and get past more players

Payet's goal was brilliant and should not be belittled. But it doesn't compare to Wegerle's imo. The composure Wegerle showed all the way, included the finish is something of rare quality.

Though it should be mentioned that the level facing Payet these days are higher than back in the early nineties.

Both are very good goals but Wegerle's edges it for me.

Having watched both Wegerle's goal is better. The defending from Southampton is awful, it's not a case of Payet destroying defenders with nice skill, but more the fact he was allowed to run through unchallenged. Whereas your man was skipping diving tackles and also squeezed a nuts in. The finish was from further out too. If it was another player (not Payet) sky wouldnt go so mad over it.

I think it was against Boro Sam.

I have no qualms with Boro personally, I think for a rival to be a rival they need to be competition and even if you asked the 473 ST holders to answer honestly, they would confess boro are a tinpot club! I'll save my hatred for the mackems!

Both are good but bad as both needed a tackle which didn't come
Aka DM goal against England in the WC
So for me it's more about a collection of bad defending

There's no contest here. Wegerle wins this one hands down. Payet's was good, but there is no comparison.
Roy had it all to do by himself, whereas Payet could've and should've passed to 2 or 3 of his teammates as selfish as that lucky shot was.

It's likely that those at the Beeb and Sky have never seen or heard of Wegerle's goal against massive because football didn't exist before 1992......<doh>

Never tier of watching Roy's goal.......Poyet's is just over hyped......
