IC staying in the cup would also obviously keep Kolo out of our game too. But whether or not that would be a good thing for us, I'm not sure.

How so? The more missing the better, I'm hoping Dzeko picks up another yellow, then they will be terribly short....well for City any way! <laugh>

Kolo's not exactly the fastest or most mobile of CBs these days. I'd back Rickie and Jay to have a better day against him than Lescott.

But yes, a Dzeko second yellow would go down very nicely here. Along with red's for Hart, Zabaleta, Silva and Aguero.

Aguero's goal...my god what a finish. Gerrard's too for that matter, been treated to a few today.

Defoe and Sturridge both injury doubts for England now, what price calls for Lambert and Le Fondre?

Nice to see that City had a poor game, and their lowest % pass completion this season. They should definitely be worried about coming to St Mary's.

More likely Andy Carroll and Darren Bent.

If Bent gets a call-up I'll give up supporting England I think. Would be an insult to all the English players who actually get off the bench occasionally.

Balotelli has scored 25 minutes into his AC Milan debut.

Looks that way, 2 already. Scored the winner (a pen) on the 94th minute.

Lambert should definitely get a chance, but probably won't for the same reason Holt didn't last season.

There are obviously drawable comparisons between their situations and somewhat their play but the fact remains that Lambert is a much better and much more complete player than Holt. Holt had/has more things going against him beyond just his age and being at a club outside the top 6, whereas those are literally the only two things stopping Lambert from getting a very deserved call-up. Don't mean to slate Holt at all but just how I see it.

Rickie has been way better than Holt this season. Watched Holt on Saturday and he was dire!

To be fair he was referring to Holt in his prime last season when he was among the top form strikers in the league. Much like Rickie is now, except overall Rickie has more in his game than Holt, regardless of form or performances.
