It's more to do with a fictional character selling his soul and his beliefs to get to the top. The content isn't relevant for me as I ain't a big fan of political Hip Hop.

Just like with Vinnie Paz, I appreciate him as an artist more than I appreciate his music, but there are a few tracks that are just top drawer.

Yeah mate I'm aware of the PRhyme stuff, he's done some work before with Nickel Nine and it's been fairly impressive, the guy has talent which always helps but not necessarily a prerequisite if Premier is backing you up.

Premiers older stuff might as well be stuck in my car CD player it never really comes out unless I'm on a road trip with the Mrs.

    Some more mainstream stuff...

Jay-Z Izzo, Hova claims to be 'The Best Rapper Alive' which isn't true, but in my opinion he's not far off. Aptitude for making music.

Notorious B.I.G - Who Shot Ya, what's a hip hop thread without a bit of beef? The greatest 'dis' track comes from Biggie, who in my opinion is head and shoulders above any rapper alive or dead. Many will think this is too commercial but it's only because people have made him commercial, he wasn't anything like Jay-Z or Eminem when he was alive.

Speaking of Eminem - Lose Yourself. Great track from his movie 8 Mile, not everybody's cup of tea but lyrically even I have to give him his dues, he knows how to write. Probably the best freestyler out there as well.

2-Pac - How Do U Want It? Probably not his most popular song, but definitely up there with his best work as a rapper.

Method Man & Redman - The Rockwilder, Reggie is widely considered the greatest rapper out there by his peers, this is a classic track featuring Wu-Tang's Method Man.

One of the greatest ever hip-hop tracks with a bit of funk dropped behind it.

How have i missed this thread?

disappointed all the links just show the link text and don't display the vids. i can't be copy-pasting to check what's what... or can I?

not to stereotype, Aussie, but check out Hilltop Hoods

surprised this first one hasn't been posted yet (looking back i see Nordic mentioned it)

i'll have a look through my library later, add any other choice tracks i find.

Ha, it's good but I'd politely disagree. I wouldn't put that in my top 100.

This would get in there though...
