One Leeds, the opposition have leant to snuff out distribution to Bamford, and as Bielsa would rather we go back to the Championship than change his tactics we are farcked!
Thats Bielsa's choice. He chose to have it that way. He would rather fly Costa back from Spain than give Cresswell a chance at centre back.
The longer this goes on the more pressure we are putting on ourselves. Most pundits saying we are way too good to go down but look at how relieved Bruce is today. A taxi was waiting for him at half time because he knows we should have scored almost double figures in the first half. I have never seen so many clear cut chances created and all squandered by either one touch too much or scuffed shots and in Bamfords case he is an England striker who cant use his right foot and his left last night was woeful. Rodrigo Spains No9 also missed a couple by a small margin but also missed another couple with scuffed shots. The one from Firpo was Sunday league miss, Klich tried too many dinks and chips rather than just smashing it so he missed at least 4 chances. We created chances last season but we took a lot of them and we won games, this season they are not going in and we are dropping points fast. Think we are all frustrated as hell again
Still trying to get my head around everything but thought we looked good last night. We bossed the opening period and should have had a penalty to take us 2-0 up, inexplicably VAR decided not to intervene on this occasion, which is par for the course where Leeds United are concerned. If I could see it from 150 miles away and behind the sofa then surely the technology which is so quick to get involved when it's against us should have intervened....a shocking piece of officiating that changed the outcome of the game. After that Newcastle changed formation and it became a ding dong basketball match as both sides threw caution to the wind and just went for it. Unfortunately the crucial second goal (have I mentioned the penalty yet) went the barcodes way and ultimately both sides probably derserved something from the game. It's hard to be too disappointed with the draw, obviously the win was there for us but we couldn't quite manage it. Regarding indiviual players I have to strongly disagree with some poster (it's all about opinions). Cooper I thought put in a very solid performance, maybe that's because I'm taking into account his limitations and also who he was up against in Newcastle's best player. Firpo showed signs of improvement and was still pushing hard at the end. In fact he could have been the hero had he slotted home seconds before half time, note how advanced he was to get that chance and that will give you some indication of the ground Bielsa is expecting him to cover. The lad is getting fitter and stronger and I believe he'll come good for us. Looking forward to Tuesday as it's a game we don't need to win, let's go down there and give it a good go but ultimately it's the League that counts.
When you have the whole world to scour for a left back and €15m to spend on one I’d have thought we’d have been able to find one who’s better than Firpo in fact we had better than him in Davis and let him go to Bournemouth ffs. I know people say it’s too early to judge him and has to get used to the system but it’s never too early to come to the conclusion his ball control is terrible and doesn’t have much pace. Those are qualities you’d expect from a €15m player. Total waste of money.
I'm going for 37 more points needed, but yes it's a slow start. Still undefeated against non top 4 sides though. Not saying we'll be fine as obviously who knows but let's enjoy the matches and get behind the lads
I'm 100% behind them, but I'm not letting my blind faith hide the fact that we aren't playing like we were last season. The next couple of games are winnable, but equally losable.
I think when things are good we have the best set up in the Premier League. Manager, coaches, academy, tactics and players. When you lose a third of those players but opted not to use your academy things may come back to bite. Looking for positives: Forshaw should be fit for next week so much needed midfielder. Lorente may be fit so defence beefed up. Harrison could be back so back to 2 first team wingers with Summerville on the bench. Dan James hits form because he wasnt good enough last night Koch may not be far away from fitness. We may have witnessed some impressive U23 play against Fulham so can be confidentfor the rest of the season that we have enough players capable. If any of these things happen things are rosier, if all of them happen we can wait for Ayling and Raphinha with confidence
If your first positive is waiting for a crock who’s barely kicked a ball in two years as our midfield saviour then we are in deep ****.
