Weekend Discussion

Think we all know results haven't been great lately...so thought I'd have a look at relative form to see exactly how much we've declined results wise.

Last 8 games only 2 teams have a worse record than us when compared to the rest of the season ( Liverpool & Southampton). Whereas no one has done better than Fulham as they sit top of the relative form table for the last 8 games.

Leeds -0.41 points per game (last 8 compared to rest of season)....so now averaging 0.88 PPG.
Fulham +0.60 points per game (last 8 compared to rest of season)...so now averaging 1.50 PPG.

That's only relative form of course, but it perfectly illustrates how much Fulham have improved.

Interesting.

I'd say we have had a touch of bad luck since Christmas and can't remember many games where I came away thinking we were the worse side on the day.

Ironically Chelsea springs to mind yet we got a point.

If,if,if we need 6 PTS for me to be a cert for salvation and we are going to get them...there you go,the fine balance between a win and loss is miniscule as to make your hair grey just thinking about it,we have now got a couple of our big signings coming back and especially llorente is looking like the signing we hoped for, Rodrigo is a strange one at the minute flashes of class then average but he is intelligent enough to get into the groove next season....fear not we won't be back at udders next year:emoticon-0140-rofl:

Fulham are really not the enemy here as they deserve to stay up on present form. Newcastle however using your metric are only averaging 0.75 points over the last 8 games which means based upon that they will only achieve 35 points max this season. We already have 36 points. Data and stats is great fun, but I dont even think Newcastle will get another 7 points, for me they have gone

Agreed about Newcastle looking in desperate trouble.

The stats I'm looking at though say they've picked up 9 points from the last 8 games... so their relative form is actually reasonably good at 1.13 and if maintained would see them finish on 39 points.

That's why I still think we'll need 40+ points to be sure.

Just double checked Jamster, and in March Newcastle earned 2 points and February 4 points and the 8th game which was last game of January no points = 6 points mate = 6/8=0.75 in fact if I went back another another 4 games they would have scored only 6 points in 12 games which means only a calculated 5 points more this season

Sorted, my mistake the Everton game is missing. I used the BBC site and went back by month and counted the January results from the bottom up as I needed just one result, thinking the last entry would be the last game. Apologies
