Small point - it hasn’t come from the grass root players, this has come from the establishment, from bbc, from sky for promoting it and from police and from government for allowing it. It all stinks.
Not so sure you're right about that, but can't be bothered delving into t'internet. Does smell of the BBC, tbh, but don't think they or any of the above were instigators. Didn't players originally take it to the PFA to get it adopted?
It’s GOT to come from above (ie the money). Sky had blm logos and even Netflix had (or has) a blm channel. You don’t get all this from grass roots, it only comes from the top. And by that I mean the ones with the most money. It’s all very smelly.
Ok it's a theory but I'm not really seeing it to be honest. Maybe if you could expand on the reasoning behind it all ?
Which other grass roots cause gets full establishment support and endorsement? None that I can think of. PS - I’m not here to defend or otherwise all this, just “spit balling” ideas.
Had a quick look on t'internet. Not a lot there to find (probably due to my pathetic search attempts), but I did find this article that seems to suggest it was coordinated by the Villa & Blades player before their first restart match. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...s-take-knee-premier-league-black-lives-matter "The teams then passed by each other without the traditional shake of hands and when the referee, Michael Oliver, blew his whistle for kick-off something else uncommon happened too: both teams and their coaching staff dropping to the ground to take a knee. This graceful, powerful action had been initiated and coordinated by the players to show support for racial justice. It was an image beamed around the world as a global audience tuned back in to the Premier League."
Regarding Sky I thought they were just following the mood as it were, then shifted to appear as ultra connected and at the forefont. They need the approval of a certain demographic of subscriber otherwise they're f***ed in the modern era of streaming etc. Everything they do now is about trying to preserve their market share. Never watch or read the BBC so can't comment.
Leeds live reported that La Repubblica have reported that his club have lowered their demands, Da Paul has agreed to a 5 year deal and it will be completed in the next day or so but when i did a search on the Italian papers site I couldn't find anything on there to substantiate this.
“following the mood” - strikes me as very odd, can’t imagine that many sky subscribers being in support? And if so, how was that support evaluated? If it comes from government or it’s media, it’s likely a bit bogus. IMO.
Social media seems to be the driver of just about everything these days. My 13 year old was all over it well before I knew anything...maybe that supports your theory I don't know. My view is that Sky have to pander to the ' yoof ' otherwise they will be seen as out of touch and not relevant.
This paper, NY Times, seems to give a reason - can't say if it's right or wrong just seems to make sense and therefore I assume would be how the teams collectively agreed to end it. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/10/sports/soccer/premier-league-captains-george-floyd.html
