I remember watching a debate early in the summer about the players needed to keep a team in the premier league. The consensus was that the teams who got relegated didn’t spend enough and most of the new players were championship or championship quality. Can anyone say that the new players we brought in were premier league quality. I will stick my neck out and say Pirri, Bijal, Gudmundson and Stach. Okofor may be, but I could be wrong and none of these could be prem quality, but let’s say they are that means we have bought five championship quality players. How many of our existing team are prem quality, Bogle, Rodon, Tanaka, Ampadu, Gnonto and maybe James. So that means at best we have maybe 11 prem quality players and two of them are out injured for weeks. Sorry folks we are in a worse position than we were the last time in the prem. I could be wrong and all the new signings could be brilliant of course……….

Bogle, tanaka and amps will probably be snapped up if we go down

Not sure on the others to be fair, but without further enforcements and Farke (who deserves a chance at the prem without his hands tied behind his back) we are heading back to the championship.

Aaronson hamer Harrison gruev is what we will be looking forward to next term and until we become redbull Leeds or sort out the back room the best we can hope for is yo yoing with parachute payments

Can't see any of our new signings having much of a sell on fee with there injury records or age. We've taken no chances of anyone up and coming, but weve risked a lot on fitness.

I just hope to god they havent put relegation clauses in like the previous **** show as that will be the nail in the coffin

This was our shot, and as things stand we have ****ed it again

So your saying we had a list of 3 , not much of a list is it. There were some credible and serious journos giving info about serious discussions on strikers. Like the Krstovic story when he came out and actually said he was staying in Italy and not going to England. And there were others like that mate

All I'm saying is that there's alot of emotion about missing out on players that Leeds have been linked with. The club haven't missed out on these players because in all likelihood we haven't even enquired about them.

Most of these credible journalists are more often wrong than right. Even Fabrizio gets it wrong more often than people think.

There's been alot of noise about Demirovic recently. Its pretty obvious Leeds have never been in for him.

Spertsyan is the only creditable name we are linked with i reckon

Absolute set piece machine, not sure if he could cut it in the prem but we got to roll the dice now. Too many safe signings or risks with fitness not to take a chance IMO

Need the x factor from somewhere

At least Hamer can pull something out of nothing

When promoted months ago the talk was on Hamer or Buendia, a few months on and guess what we are back to Hamer and Buendia. Say what you want folks but in my eyes the Underwood/49ers recruitment team have been shyt, outclassed, outgunned, too slow, beaten at every turn when dealing with forward recruitment. Marquee signing Hamer wasn’t even anywhere near Farkes list months ago, now its top of panic list

I remember Gnonto was the last name on a list and we signed him in the last hours. He worked out okay.

We have a massive sell on clause with him too. Probably one of the reasons we have kept him, and he wasn't our first choice. I believe that was Gakpo was it not?

Either way, valid point. Gnonto is well suited to the prem and im glad we have him

<laugh> Can you remember the name of the superstar we were buying who never got on the plane in the South of France so Orta flew on to Switzerland and got Gnonto months earlier than planned.

Who was supposed to get on another plane in Holland when Orta jetted out to sign him,was it CLK

I don't think any of us can tell who the 49r's were and were not in for, what we can tell is what we've got.
If our recruitment is stat driven why have we ended up with Nmecha and Lewin who have scored as many goals in the last four seasons as could be expected from a good striker in one season ?
My answer is same as it was with the 49r's recruitment/sales last summer, money.

True on the first point. Re the stat-based recruitment. Not sure it’s those kind of stats. I agree You shouldn’t need a ‘team’ to work out who scored the most goals. It’s trying to find the best fit for the type of football you play. On and off the ball.

And all teams recruitment is stat based - it’s just a way of narrowing down targets from hundreds to 10s. I don’t think the problem to date has been the type of player for the position’s recruited for… it’s the quality for some and injury record for others.

Think that’s been covered off to death… if they weren’t crocked we wouldn't get them. Combination of limited funds and limited appeal of being relegation favourites.

No idea what distribution profile they had in their keeper search to get Perri<laugh>

If we went and got Hamer, at least the little twat would run his blood to water and kick **** out of everyone. He's a little hard working bull. We've lacked a bit of energy and tempo in our last two games. Hamer would certainly rectify that area.

So would Josh Sargent to be honest.

They'd both graft like **** for the cause. Thats more than we saw against Arsenal and Sheff Wed.

Just anyone better than Meslier seems to be the instruction. He's left a bit of wriggle room to improve on the next one. Thats smart recruitment.

I said I was waiting till the transfer window shuts before i say my piece. but will wade in a little.
We are a couple of days away from it ending. have we done enough I really don't think so.
Thing is I think we have tried I honestly do. but, the ones we want we can't get because we don't have that pulling power.
The high end players are out our reach. The established and want aways are not interested because they believe they can get better or don't want to sign a 3/4 year contract for a club that has a high possibility of getting relegated.
Hand on heart how many of the players we have brought in would/could of went higher in a alterative move? they all still chasing something.
Not saying they bad players just we haven't beat teams off a bat to get them.
Perri,Gabby,Stach,Bournauw are all chancers not being harsh with that wording but all have it to prove in this top division.
Justin,Longstatt,Nmecha,DCL, All need to prove something now in their career and are willing to get there career moving either through injury or lack of minutes.
Okafor,Bijol, only 2 that have come from so called bigger teams.

It's a very hard window even though we back in the promised land we are there but alot of targets still see us as visitors and are very 50/50 in making the move not because of the club but of their possible future.
I also agree with someone up above we have been linked with anyone and everyone 75% of that has to be taken with a pinch of salt the media wind up fans its how they get there clicks on their pages.
Anyhows got nowt against Nmecha and DCL and I really hope atleast one of them finds that bit of injury luck and hit back at the critics But in hindsight two freebies are a million miles away from what I was expecting to lead our line days before the window closes.

BEK not in the Leicester squad either.

Clutching at straws here but im a desperate man

BEK and Hamer (loan so great for PSR) … plus KP back to fill Amps boots - plus last minute swoop for some random European striker.

jobs a good un. You heard it hear first

dont go to bed just yet.

Ornstein has tweeted about Leeds now desperate and h he mentioned BEK, Solomon, Spertsyan and Bakwa. However we already know BEK wants elsewhere and so too does Bakwa, Spertsyan mentioned months ago by Farke but nobody bothered to speak to him and Solomon seems stupid as we have loads of left wingers and nobody on the right. It’s all so crap and revisiting people from moths ago . Oh and watch out for more Kalvin Phillips stories

I like Hamer. And Sargent is better than many leeds fans think. And his injury profile fits the target <cracker>
