And in fairness the other way Top 6 sides in the Championship already have half decent strikers so anyone coming on loan starts from the bench and has to earn his way in. See Eddie Nketiah for evidence.
Think the reason so many clubs in the championship and overseas are chasing Joffy is because he can play in a 4-4-2 and as a 10. When Joffy finished as leagues top scorer for the 23s he actually shared the 9 role with Sam Geenwood so half his games was as a 10. He’s never been used as a 10 for the first team and I wonder why? Sonny Perkins is the same and he has played as a 10 for the first team. So playing time, playing where, midfield and flank support, loan fee, paying his wages……. Lots to look at if he can’t score goals and play well in the Championship then he becomes yet another Edmondson
He needs to be made compete for his place. If he can’t force his way in there he’ll certainly never manage it with us
True but managers will usually favour contracted players over a loanee, at least to begin with and especially if they're having a decent season (Top 6). Going to a lower Championship side would hopefully provide more opportunities as those teams are looking for solutions.
i recall bielsa talking about joffy’s main asset being his finishing doc… sounded like, although he played as a 10 for the 23s… it was striker or nothing in bielsa’s eyes. Who knows what Jesse’s view is.
Gelhardt is a decent finisher but for me his greatest strength is his aggressiveness coupled with the fact he is so direct. As soon as he sees the goal he's thinking about getting a shot away. He seems to have lost that over the last year. He seems to be waiting for things to happen for him rather than going out there and making things happen. Could be a confidence issue or it could be the modern coaching where young raw kids with lots of promise find themselves playing safe to keep possession and ultimately losing their edge.
I saw Eddie play at Elland rd and frankly he could not pass or hold the ball up. He must have improved no end.
How much did Liverpool pay for Gakpo ? Looks like a player struggling for form at the moment against Chelsea. Cunha at Wolves looked half decent on his debut, but was poor the other night in the FA Cup. Seem you don't get much for your money these days and that's before we get onto the £400M Chelsea have spent since last summer.
I watched 20 minutes of first half. Got bored. Shockingly average. Hard to believe probably 700m pounds worth of players on show or on the bench
Same here. New guy for Chelsea looks a player though, guess you have to spend £88M to get someone decent these days... Oh hang on what about Lukaku
To be fair. Given the spending and the fact they’re both ten points off cl spot, the losing manager there deserves sacking. Our fans moan about Marsch constantly, some of it maybe justified but what has gods gifts to managers Klopp and potter done this season with unlimited resources
Potter deserves some time to sort things out but Klopp is now a busted flush. Now doubt they'll both keep spending though until they're back in the CL.
