Doc mentioned about the older players leaving and needed new re enforcements next season and that some players loaned out might come back into the fold but if Cresswell and Bate aren’t setting the world alight and being the best players in there teams then I’m afraid we need a rethink with our U23s because they obviously look the part and then simple aren’t PL ready. This could even still be the case for Gelhardt, Greenwood & Summerville as we’ve not seen enough of them. Before the season started fans didn’t want Cresswell on loan because he’s “our best CB”, we need to stop putting our youth players on a pedestal after seeing a good cameo appearance because these players clearly aren’t better than what we’ve got or they’d be starting. Maybe the managers can see they aren’t all that which is why they don’t start?
****ing hell lads. Klich is 32 not 42. Prime years for a footballer are 27-32. When a player gets to 30 it doesn't mean its time to offer him as a human sacrifice. Klich looks a bit leggy after 45 minutes. He's had a tough few years. This year he is a super sub coming on for 30 minute cameos a bit like we used Pablo at the end. I'd imagine he will leave next year to be replaced by Greenwood who will slowly become more prominent. The others are only 30-31 and will be fine for another couple of seasons. We need experienced players to supplement the young lads.
The older players will have another year in their legs next season, and the club will have to do a cost/benefit analysis same as any business. Are they still doing the business on the pitch, do they make the team better etc. 2 of them are out of contract in June, so do we offer them new contracts, if so for how long. Luke contract runs out in June and right now he has a value of £3.6m. Forshaw contract expires in June and he has a value of £1.8m Dallas contract expires June 24 and has a value of £3.6m but we dont know if he will get back fully yet, but we have time on our side. Cooper contract June 24 and a value of £6.3m. Marsch raves about him, however he is now more prone to injury and takes longer to get back fit again. in my view Forshaw should not be given a new deal which will allow him to walk on a free next summer. Ayling should be offered a rolling one year deal If the squad needs improving every season, you cant do it by keeping players who are in decline, but have been great servants. Heart or head?
Fraid not Doc . Not a convincing reply. I won’t worry though as transfer window now closed so won’t impact the team
