Another player that needs sorting out is Bogutsz. Still only 20yo and valued at £1.5m minimum. Bielsa decided to send him out on loan to Spain as an 18yo who was dominating U23 games here. His second spell in Spain had him scoring screamers and playing some magical stuff as an AM, then a knee injury cut last season short, he should be back in training now? He is now going into the last year of his contract

This weekends big questions are all about what to do with some players

Cody Drameh is potentially a great player in the making. Can play anywhere in defence or as a winger. Will he be asked to stay

Kiko we believe is in negotiations to terminate his contract and allow him to go back to Spain

Costa has one of the best agents in football so he needs to work his magic and get him a move, maybe back to Portugal.

Poveda has opportunities with 3 Championship clubs, Italian clubs, Spanish clubs and the MLS. Will we extend his contract or just sell him

Summerville is in negotiations for a new contract, but is this so we can loan him out or is because we want him in the first team squad. Unplayable at academy level but still waiting to see that form transferred to prem football. Last year of his contract so something needs to happen

Lewis Bate is one to watch as he needs football and that means Championship football. Pointless sending him down the divisions as it will probably end his aspirations. Too good for the U21s but not good enough yet for the first team.

Klich is one we could see moving out, going home or taking a move to the Championship or even Holland or Germany.

Rodrigo is a strange one but talk of offers from countless La Liga clubs back home in Spain and talk of offers from Turkish clubs

Forshaw, Cooper, Ayling and Dallas - just how much game time will they get this season. Cooper is getting a lot of injuries, Forshaw is like a biscuit missing the last few weeks of last season on top of his earlier injuries and now out for the start of the season. Ayling could be best placed to make it back fully but we may never see Dallas again as he has a very serious break and they cannot be assessed until the player makes it onto the pitch again. He may lose speed and pwer but I really hope he beats the odds and comes back fully. However we have 4 fragile players over 30yo and yes each if them could be excellent on the bench especially after last season, but is the time ripe for easing some out?

I'm gambling that a new striker and new LB get done within days
If Drameh can play anywhere in defence then why not try him at left back. Surely a similar type of skills, positioning and mindset is required?

Watched him at LB for the 23s season before last, and watched him partnering Cresswell at CB too. Capable but usually used at RWB with Summerville ahead of him and it was great. Never understood why the club didnt have a LWB and we used a winger/ AM there. That guy has just been sold and the clubs only LWB is injured. Just seems crazy. At the moment we have Struijk or Hjelde filling in but maybe Drameh is being looked at?

Get that Struijk and Hjelde are being looked at there but as a natural fullback you’d think his skills would be the easiest to transfer to that position?

You know the position but you tackle with your wrong leg, there are few players like Dallas, that seem to be able to play both sides but as with him, you still have limited ability from one side to the other, different for wingers, as it's the tackling aspect that's alien.

So show him inside so you tackle with your right leg (if you’re good enough). Though that does explain Struijk an Hjelde more as left footers, Carragher once said that fullbacks are basically failed centre backs.

I have a strange feeling that Drameh and Summerville will be gone soon. Cody will be picked up by a Championship club and work his way in to the Premier League. Summerville I don't know but we've been linked with a raft of wingers this summer so he just might get sold on. Tbh with Gelhart, Greenwood and Gray making the step up I think the academy has done a fairly good job there.

Klich and Rodrigo I'm putting in the same camp as Forshaw, Ayling, Cooper and Dallas. Their age worries me if I'm being honest. They can't carry on for the next 10 years at this level they need to leave for a less competitive league or drop down the divisions. We need to bring in younger players and preferably a couple of them being young English talent who have had first team football.

On to the LB and ST positions from what I've read on Twitter the guy at Atlas is a done deal all they need to do is cross the Ts and dot the Is. Granted I've had to use Google Translate to make sense of said Tweets as they all seem to come from Mexico.

Poveda, Costa and Kiko seem to be leaving from what I understand they're not in Jesse's plan but the problem is that we could need another RM to be signed as we only have James in that position. Hopefully with Kiko desperate to go to Esanyol we should be getting Ben Foster in

Interesting that Burnley have a new left back this season.

Ian Maatsen a 20 year old dutch player on a one year loan from Chelsea made his debut last night and scored the only goal of the game.

Their previous left back a certain Charlie Taylor played left side centre half and it would seem his days as a marauding full back are now over.

Yeah I noticed that last night. Overall I was really impressed with Burnley

Kompany has got them playing simple but good football

Obviously that's one game in <laugh>
