Is Lewis O'Brien any good. Reports were that we were interested in him over the summer but to be honest I've never seen him play.
O’Brian wasnt good enough to go straight into the first team so we offered only £3m for him. Bielsa thought he would be good enough at some stage but refused to spend what the dogz wanted, which would have been nearly £15m including add-ons. He has since signed a new deal with a big buy out clause.
Seems a lot of Leeds fans think Rodrigo was brilliant https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/10/bl...y-norwich-city-premier-league-twitter-reacts/
Have only watched him play for Scotland, and he's been brilliant. Great vision, creativity, good engine & deadly passing. And yet he's just a wee boy! Would sign him for us in a heartbeat.
clickbait article doc… picking one side of a Twitter debate to create a headline… the type of article you warn people against. Personally I didn’t think anyone was ‘good’ yesterday… rod was alright i thought, some good some not so good. I like him as a player just don’t think bielsa has ever worked out how to utilise him.
I think the problem for us at the moment is that we've got no one in the box when we attack. We're not only missing Bamford but our FB (Ayling and Alioski) were arriving in the box stretching the defence, that's not happening this year. The fitness levels in the PL are so high that defenders get back in numbers and pack the box. I see Harrison running at a wall of 2 or 3 defenders with his only option a sideways pass. He can't knock it in early because there's rarely someone there. I think we'll be better with Bamford back
Roberts isn’t my favourite but Harrison has been far worse this season. For me, although not ideal James Roberts Raphinha is far more balanced than Harrison James Raphinha. James also gets back and helps out down the left far better than Harrison but he can’t do that playing central. Bielsa does have favourites and loyalty and it’s sometimes like he needs to fit them in at any expense. Sunday we had three at the back and no bite in the middle, usually Phillips will be that third at the back when we haven’t got the ball and he’ll be DM when we have it creating the link. On Sunday there was nobody around him until Forshaw came on, Shackleton was a non threat, Dallas is out of sorts. Harrison needs dropping, I’ve no idea what’s gone wrong with him. Raphinha was good but if he hadn’t scored we’d have been complaining about his misplaced passes. Quite a few feel Rodrigo was good on Sunday, I didn’t see it myself, I don’t believe Bielsa has found a settled position for him. Although I didn’t witness where he supposedly played well, admittedly he didn’t stand out as bad in the way Harrison and Shackleton did, he didn’t stand out as off form as Dallas and Phillips. Final point, does anyone understand why Bielsa tries James central and not Raphinha?
Possibly because in the middle he's easier to mark, when he's out wide can you afford to put players on him that would leave you exposed centrally. As has been said before, James' decision making isn't the best but he's quick and I think he can finish so a decent option. I haven't seen the map of where Rodrigo plays but he's much deeper than a CF, he makes AM runs into the box that invariably get cut out. Even Norwich have a top Championship defence and it's very difficult to cut them open through the middle. We're not stretching teams like we used to and every team chases us down at the back hoping to get a mistake. We need Bamford as our target to keep defenders busy in the box and we'll be a different team. I get what you're saying about Harrison but when he receives the ball and there's no one ahead of him, and especially yesterday no one overlapping, what does he do?
I would ask those who think there was no difference between the teams yesterday. Did Meslier have to make a great save? They had a very attacking formation according to Farke and created nothing apart from the corner we gave them. Leeds would have possibly lost that game after Norwich equalized so quickly, I was hoping we'd hold on for a draw because I'm a Leeds fan, but we bounced straight back. There was a gulf between those sides yesterday.
Milky I agree and said myself that our 2 best players yesterday were rating a 6 from me which isnt great. Those 2 plus Struijk were the standouts on a poor day for all
Noticed that a few times yesterday, we're definitely not getting as many bodies in the box when attacking and certainly not breaking with the speed we once did
