Stick, I take it you all got home safe, sound and in one piece. There will always be better days ahead. I had a good go on him today. Fancied him and though he'd like the track. But that's racing. Ya pays ya money and ya takes ya chance.
Maybe he's fallen out of love with the game for the time being? He'll be back....and at a good price!!!

Pretty lousy day all round today, The Moore good thing ran a stinker in the seller and then he won our race. He was stood next to me during the race and was delighted with the win.
Squire was poor and I am starting to have concerns about him. For the first time ever today he was first off the bridle in his race. He usually travels much stronger than that. The debrief with Beschizza was long and full of excuses, nothing he could have done of course. He said that Squire didnt like the track, he didnt like the road crossing, he didnt like the seaside etc etc.
Most annoyingly he now seems to settle like an absolute dream. He also doesnt appear to have any breathing issues. So why is he not progressing instead of regressing. I dont suppose anything will manifest itself in the coming days but I would almost be happier if it did. One thing is for sure, next time he runs it will be a flat galloping track and not a quirky racecourse.
Sorry for those of you who backed him today, you didnt even get a proper run for your money.
Worse was to come as Hector Crouch was injured in a fall and replaced on Buzz by Rons favourite jockey, Jim Crowley, who gave him a contender for the worst ride of the season award. How that cock became champion jockey will always be a mystery to me.
The day couldnt get any worse but yes it did. My second biggest bet of the day was on De Vegas Kid, oh dear oh dear. Then to make matters worse we had a 3.1/2 hour journey home that was all stop and no start.
Sorry to hear that stick. You may well be right about the track He's run twice at Epsom and once at Brighton and in all 3 races he has achieved a pretty poor time figure even though 2 of those were on good to firm and one on good. (Crowley was aboard on 2 of those occasions). His best 2 time figures (over 70) were at Windsor and Sandown, both with Havlin on board. Although, personally, I thought his second at Newmarket was his best run (also Havlin on board). I always felt Rob Havlin got on with Squire better than anyone. I suspect Squire isn't too keen on Crowley.

I agree keep him to flat tracks. It's unfortunate you couldn't keep hold of Havlin. I think, in his absence you need a jockey who can ride him regularly at home and can build up a rapport with him. Some horses can be very sensitive and simply won't enjoy some riders on their back. Keep Crowley away from him <laugh>

Is he performing better at home than he was last year. If so it's just a case of getting the right conditions and, just as important, the right jockey.

Unlucky Stick today! Without meaning to sound like previous post That's racing for you! At least he/you got home safe and will be ready to fight another day. He is undoubtedly a very talented horse and will be in the winners enclosure very soon!! It is very tricky track (they say if they run well at Brighton they will run well at Epsom- used to run the derby trials here for that reason) horses either get it or they don't and Squire obv didn't unfortunately but don't worry us followers will not lose faith!!

GWAAANYABOYO!!

PENDO - Brighton 3:20 - 20/1

Hope Squire does well for you, and with everyone having a look at the race this is my go at finding the winner. Yard are banging in winners at the minute, good course form, will love any softening of the ground but not ground dependent. Worth an ew poke.

Good pick and obviously a little unlucky to bump into an improving 3yo getting plenty of WFA, that's August for you!

Never know what you're going to get with horses from that yard, so was happy that he was at least allowed to put in his true running. Was genuinely willing Squire on for you, still races out there for him to win i'm sure back on a flat track
