A shame that there is a non-runner at Brighton as the 3:20 now only pays three places. If the rain arrives before then, I expect there could be at least another non-runner, which would be a wasted trip to the seaside...
Top weight Cricklewood Green will not be bothered if it rains but his win last time was his first since a 5-runner apprentice race here a year ago and he won this race last year on easy ground prior to that in a blanket finish. Exceeding Power has won two of his last three but possibly does not want too much rain either. The filly Helfire has recorded three of her four wins on artificial surfaces, she was a well beaten third last time and her two runs on easy ground have been poor. Pour La Victoire was beaten a little over a length in this last term and is tried in a visor whilst stablemate Admirable Art has won twice at the track and would not be bothered by rain. Lord Clenaghcastle may be the biggest danger as the three year old has won three of his seven starts, including last time on easy ground at Epsom and clearly goes well for his decent apprentice.
With SQUIRE currently showing at 16/1 on SportingLife.com (only betting source I can access in office), I will be hoping that by lunchtime he is still a good each way price or that the heavens have opened and he has been scratched.
