Three nice priced winners but Mannaal was lucky that Ryan Moore made a balls-up on Vivionn. Mrs Bouquet battled on well to get the better of the favourite Mighty Spririt and she's quite a speedy filly if a bit small. Runner up Mighty Spirit is Mighty frustrating as a six times raced maiden with several good runs to her name, I had to go against her today with Mrs Bouquet but Mighty Spirit will probably pop up when an outsider in a better race one day. Circus Maximus put up a good show against Too Darn Hot in a race where the older horses disappointed. Zabeel Prince held a good position but weakened and it looks like the horse has gone backwards from a really good spell in the Spring. He had a couple of really tough races over what looked the wrong trip and maybe we have seen the best of him now, as he is getting a bit long in the tooth to bounce back as an early season horse next year. Too Darn Hot got the job done but not in the manner the odds suggested. Lord Glitters lacked a bit of pace but finished well and may win something good in the Autumn. Phoenix Of Spain looks a flash in the pan as an Irish Guineas winner. Good day's tipping by yourself. I thought Vivionn was unlucky and on another day Durston might have won with him finishing miles clear of the rest. I missed my chance with Liberty Beach earlier in the week when I was eyeing a double on her at 9/4 with Pinatubo at 2/1 when the betting first opened on their races but, as ever, when you don't pull the trigger they go Bang! Bang! and you've shot your load. Not a bad day's punting but frustrating it wasn't better.
Yep, both had a bit of fortune, but that's the game isn't isn't it... I'll have a few close calls go against me as well in the near future...
