Somebody thinks he is the best: Timeform. Timeform clearly have a higher opinion of the 2000 Guineas form than lots of other people. Fast ground? The going was Good (Good to Soft in places) before the rain. One paced – like when he was only denied in a three-way photo last year? Are you getting your excuses in early?
at 10/1 against evens and 7/4, the ground was a complete irrelevance on antepost, wanted fast ground but closer it got I wasnt expecting it, had the rain stayed away today it would have been getting close to gd to firm no ground exists that would make me even question not taking 10/1 Zelzal against these two
To be fair there isn't really a lot of evidence to say the ground is a huge boost to Ribcheser over the other 2. Churchill has won a G1 on soft too, and flopped on the rattling fast ground at Ascot. Zelzal although he's never run on it, his breeding doesn't say he will dislike it. Sea The Stars won on good to soft at G1 level, and King Mambo who the mares out of won at G1 level on soft ground.
Ribchester is clearly better on soft, was in his element clocking 1.43 in the Lockinge, Churchill will be fine as well. I know Zelzal likes fast ground more than those two, dont think he has run on anything close to this soft but I think its unlikely to suit him.
The ante post on Zelzal each way looking assured now, surprising to pull him, thought his soft ground form was decent enough
Crossed wires. Sorry, thought you were talking about Zelzal. Can't see anything to think Zelzal will like this ground
