There was an article about Barber's Shop in Horse & Hound back in May. On a recent programme about Her MAjesty and her horses they mentioned that she likes her retired racehorses to go and do something useful if they cannot be used for a breeding career, rather than just stay in a paddock all day long. A few of them stay at Sandringham to "babysit" the yearlings and help teach them some manners!
Just seen this quote from John Berry regarding Ethics Girl: John Berry, trainer: ETHICS GIRL “She should run well. It looks a suitable field and while she's been disappointing on her last two starts she was running well earlier this season. She ran well at Carlisle as a three-year-old and our horses always seem to run well when Franny [Norton – jockey] rides. She's probably been too high in the handicap and she's been running well so it's taken her a while to get back down to a mark she can win off.”
Good afty all, i trust all is well with you and the world today... Good news comes from one of my local tracks, that the Grand National has got a new sponsor, Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger beer... Is there any other ginger beer i hear you cry... Spiffing news, what... We cant choose who sponsors what race, The Crabbie's Grand National hasnt got the best of rings to it for me, but hey ho, at least the prize money for the whole week will be higher than usual... In total they will sponsor 3 races - the Crabbie's Fox Hunters' Chase, the Crabbie's Topham Chase and the Crabbie's Grand National. See the link below from ATR for the full story... http://www.attheraces.com/article.aspx?hlid=537706&lid=&raceid=&title=Crabbie%27s+to+sponsor+Grand+National&ref=PA+Racing+Feed&nav=&sub=Crabbie%26#39;s+to+sponsor+Grand+National&day=Wed Anyway im off to have a look at what i can put my shillings and loose change on from the weekend...
Don’t Crabbies make those radio adverts with more ‘double entendres’ in them than a ‘Carry On’ film?!? Glad to see that they will top up the GN prizepot to £1 million. It’s made no sense to me that in the last 2 years its been left at £975,000. ‘The first million pound National’ is a real plus and selling point, methinks.
I don't question anyone's tips as a rule Heis, but I can't see how Looks Like Rain can win that! He is rated 14lb higher than the bottom weight Jebulani, yet has to give away 31lb including the claimer's allowance! Obviously I wish you best of luck but if he wins this there needs to be a Steward's Enquiry
250 worcester looks intresting im going to have a small win bet on AP McCoy to bring home MONTE CAVALLO AGAIN
Taking on MOG's Entwined in the 9-10 Kempton with Sugar House 4-1 Charlie Appelby's only runner and Barzelona's only ride Good luck all
Strikemaster in the 310 at ctt has drifted out to 6s could outrun that price and settle a few old races at the same time weighted well with the claimer garbutt who placed here a month ago on strikemaster small ew and hoping for more drift
I should give up after 2 dodgy small bets but im intrested to see how 340 will go with the favs both racing not long ago bluegrass blues had the upper hand over skytrain (tipped by myself last time out and winning at 10s ) both now carrying more but still seperated by 4lbs they all have there limit and bluegrass may be handicapped now so small intres on skytrain for research purposes lol
