Yip, money down on Knockanarrigan, been watching it for a while since it was sent off 11/10 fav for a bumper first time out, had an idea they were lining it up for a punt and the booking of Mark Enright suggested today was the day in a shockingly bad race. Unfortunately the Shark couldnt train a winner to save himself at the minute and the horse just isnt very good.
Weigh It Up is going to run a lot better today and I think is the archetypal each way steal at 11/2 in the bumper at Bangor.
Quick question ....... did the JLT Specialty Chase at Cheltenham used to be called The Festival Handicap Chase? Or are they two seperate races? And another question - does everyone else watching At The Races, get the burst of "machine gun speech" every 10 minutes or so - or is it my TV? I don't get it on C4 racing or indeed ANY other channel .............?
The JLT is indeed the Festival H'cap 'Chase. I still refer to it as the NH h'cap 'Chase which it was known as when I got into racing as a kid in the very early 80's.
Cheers Dex - gets confusing as various websites use both names - and at least one bookmaker referes to the NH Chase, which presumably is this one!
Cheers Master, I haven't done too badly recently. I don't put up big prices but my selections are more confident than hopeful. Just going to see if I can pick one out for tomorrow.
Really happy with that performance today, did it nicely. An interesting thing to follow actually- this is a mare by the sire Oscar, (sire of Peddlers Cross), and I am of the opinion, and it is only a gut feeling, that they are better horses on better ground. The idea will be put to more test at Cheltenham on Lord Windermere, who I managed to get some 85s on the exchanges for the RSA Chase after shaping like a good jumper who gets bogged down in Irish conditions, which made me think he was running much more creditably than people think. Hoping he will run a nice race at the festival, but would have to turn form around with Boston Bob- easier said than done!
