I told you before the King George I couldnt let Ulysses run without backing him, even though I didnt truly fancy him to win. Even if I had went for Barney Roy here I would have still had something on Ulysses, been backing him since the Derby.

Ive never backed Barney Roy in my life.

Surprised there wasn't more comment on the actual Juddmonte race. I thought Ulysses deservedly won but it was a strange race. My biggest criticism is of Doyle's riding of Barney Roy.
He almost forced the horse to run with the choke out for the first 7f. He should not have taken on the leader but should have ridden a race more like Crowley's. Doyle may be a good rider but he's not a very intelligent jockey. He rode as if he was riding the stamina horse. Instead he rode his race as if he had abundant stamina and little speed. His first 3 races of the season showed that was not the case.
He may still not have beaten Ulysses but he gave his mount very little chance of winning. Lester must be turning in his bed.
