Cant see Brave Spartacus getting beat in the next off 50lbs lower over hurdles compared to his fences rating.
6.15 Kempton Perlachy 33/1 Perlachy hasn't been running very well at all of late but resultantly has fallen a long way in the handicaps and given that this is his easiest assignment and lowest handicap mark for years then I think he's worth a small e/w play at a big price. Ron Harris's 9 year old hasn't shown much when mixing handicaps and a claimer on his last 6 starts but resultantly he has fallen from a mark of 67 in October to a mark of 55 which is the lowest mark he's been on since 2008. His last win came on the AW came off a mark of 66 (60 on turf) in February 2012 but he has a couple of efforts more recent then that which would give him a superb chance of landing this. Last August he was beaten 1L off a mark 67 and he was also beaten 1.5L off a mark of 68 in September when staying after being left with a lot to do over today's C+D and both efforts certainly showed that on his day he still retains much of his ability. This twice C+D winner drops back into a really weak looking handicap where he is actually the top weight and Perlachy's last visit to a 0-60 handicap resulted in a win (albeit back in November 2011). Although stall 10 isn't ideal, Perlachy is normally dropped out the back so I don't think its a huge problem and Ron Harris seems to have his horses in good form with his last runner successful yesterday. A lot of risks clearly come attached to this 9 year old but they are clearly factored into his current price as Luke Morris takes the ride. Off his lowest handicap mark and in the most winnable contest he's faced in years, Perlachy certainly looks worth an each way investment and although he could easily finish well out of the frame if he returns to the form of 6 months ago then he really ought to be winning this poor, poor contest. 7.45 Kempton Bestfootforward 18/1 Olivia Maylam's 4 year old filly makes her handicap debut off a basement mark of 46 and I think she could have a really good chance of landing this when looking at her 3 runs to date and breeding. This daughter of Motivator is pretty nicely bred being a half sister to the double Group 3 winning Azmeel as well as a half sister to the German Listed winner Baisse and I think she has shaped pretty nicely on her first 3 starts to date. She made her first racecourse appearance in December last year at Lingfield over 1m where she was quite keen down to the start and week in the market. Bestfootforward broke well from her draw in stall 1 to take up the running and she set a pretty decent clip over the 1m trip. She swung into the home straight still in front and was bang there at the 1f pole before she didn't find an awful lot for pressure and once beaten Kirsty Milczarek certainly wasn't overly hard on her and allowed her to come home in her own time. Her next start came 9 days later over 7f at Wolves where she was again given an easy time of things by Chris Catlin who didn't go hard on her as she dropped back to finish an 8L beaten 6th and I certainly think her best effort to date came on her latest start when upped significantly in trip to 1m4f at the start of the month. Held up in the rear of a slowly run race, there was an injection of pace at the 3f pole which caught her out a little bit but she did run on quite nicely up the home straight to be beaten by 4.25L. The form of that race looks strong as well with the winner beaten not to far off a mark of 71 on handicap debut while the 3rd won a Maiden on his only subsequent start. Given the slow pace, that form may not be as solid as it seems but similarly it was a race that did not suit horses held up and I think it was a nice effort from Olivia Maylam's little filly. She remains at a middle distance of 1m3f for her handicap debut and based on breeding she could be on a very nice mark of 46 if possessing anywhere near the ability of her half siblings. Additionally, they both were seen to best effect over a trip and her pedigree also suggests she'll be best over this sort of a distance. Robert Winston takes the ride on this bottom weight and is an interesting booking given that this will only be his 3rd start for the trainer and Maylam has her string in fine form with her last runner winning. This filly clearly has had a few issues given that she was nearly 4 before she made her racecourse appearance (was with Marco Botti but never made the track for him) and its unsurprising that connections haven't been overly hard on her to date. Although there is clearly risk involved and the draw in stall 10 isn't ideal, if she's anywhere near as good as her pedigree suggests then I feel she will have an excellent chance on her handicap debut and hopefully she can continue the good form of her Surrey based trainer.
Cheers STICK - A CHEEKY TENNER ON AT 9'S .. paying for my beers this weekend ! .. .. Keep them coming ... much appreciated
Roto, I like the look of perlachy and think it could go well at what is a massive price but I've gone against you in the 7:45 with Princess Willow at 7s
16lb higher than when winning over C&D last year. Yard in decent form without actually getting winners. It's a leave for me.
Shame that the dodgy mare is plotting up the pacemaker. Given an easy lead I think mine would have wound it up from the front.
