Morning, all. Hope everyone well and, as befits the old occasion, dressed in their toppers. Good, good. My regular readers will all know that my bet of the meeting runs tomorrow – Momentary in the Ribbesdale but in the interim I’ll nominate the following today:

Chachamaidee (3.05 Royal Ascot) – very useful mare who is a 5 time winner and a dual Group race victor. Looked better than ever on her seasonal bow at Lingfield Park when a sensational late thrust saw her victorious. The turn of foot that Chachamidee showed that day was blistering and despite being stepped up in grade I take her to oblige for Sir Henry here.

Charlton House (3.45 Royal Ascot) – although I’m no Royalist I have always been a fan of this horse and take him to pip Mr O’Brien’s So You Think in a race that I think is a virtual match as the rest, quite frankly, do not look up to scratch. His Dante win last term and success in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes on his return lead me to believe that Carlton House is a genuine Group 1 performer and I think he can oblige here.

Cai Shen (4.25 Royal Ascot) – this is I believe what every punter dreams of finding – a Group horse in a handicap and although Cai Shen is near the top of the weights I think he can go very close in one of the toughest raes of the year where there are consistently more plots than in an Agatha Christie novel. I think though that a rating of 105 and quotes of 14/1 underestimate him and he can reward each-way support this afternoon.

    Good luck, people.

Barney - according to Boris "You know nothing"

Boris versus Barney, the biggest clash since .... well some of the "fashion" on show at Royal Ascot yesterday.

Nass, according to a lot of people I know nothing so I doubt if old boy Boris (cor blimey I wonder if he's THAT Boris?!?) is alone in his thoughts!

And well I’m on how interesting is that Mr Henderson, the forum’s favourite trainer, has the 7YO Cucumber Run down to make his flat bow in the old ‘Queen Alexandra’ on Saturday?!? Success in this for the old boy could be the greatest training performance of our age.

Do you think Cucumber Run was just a dreadful misnaming due to handwriting? I am sure they wanted to call in Cucumber Rum, but got lazy.

Good support for BELGIAN BILL which I am sure is not money from the Stickler army. Promises to be a cracking Hunt Cup. Good luck everyone with their selections...well nearly everyone!

I think So You Think is going to be tough to beat today, I know he has let punters down so many times as favourite, but I just dont see what's going to beat him.*

I don't rate Carlton House im afraid, last years English and Irish Derby's were substandard renewals, and he hasn't beaten anything of note in his 2 group wins over 10 furlongs.*

SYT looked pretty impressive against a useful marker in Famous Name LTO, and if he can reproduce that level of form then he should prove to classy for this field:biggrin:*

I'm focusing on the first 4 races today. The last 2 look particulary tricky today!

I reckon this could be the day for Ryan Moore - lots of good rides and potential winners. So first up I am tipping VALBCHEK who beat some good horses including Samitar at Newmarket back in April. Swiss Spirit who he pipped that day should also go well and I am expecting good runs from 2 recent Epsom winners, Producer and LAFFAN who I think is over priced at 50/1

In the 3.05 clearly 3 class horses in a good renewal. I don't know anything about Emulous as she has just ridden in Ireland so will focus on Nahrain and my tip CHACHAMAIDEE who just seems to keep improving. Whether she is good enough to beat Nahrain I am not sure but it should be a great race.

I can accept there are claims for other horses such as Planteur and Farrh but for me the 3.45 is all about CARLTON HOUSE V So You Think. I was impressed by Carlton House on his reappearance at Sandown, has clearly been aimed at this race and represents the value against So You Think

the Royal Hunt Cup I narrowed down to 4 - Edinburgh Knight, Cai Shen, Captain Bertie and BONNIE BRAE. The others have all had mentions on this thread so will tip up another Ryan Moore horse in this. Surely he has to win 1 of these races!!

    4.10 Hamilton

    Miami Gator 25/1

On his last start he was a small bit disappointing but it still wasn't a bad effort as he was only beaten by 6.5L and he was slightly squeezed up at one stage. The handicapper has been rather kind in my opinion dropping him to a mark of 77 and he is now 1lb below his last winning mark in the Carlisle Bell last year. Although away from his beloved Carlisle, he has 1 win from two starts at Hamilton so he clearly goes well enough around here as well. Talented claimer Conor Harrison takes the ride today for the first time and takes a very handy 7lb off Miami Gator's back which should definitely help. Harrison has 1 win from 5 rides for Burke and with his trainer in good form I am expecting a bold front running showing today and hopefully Miami Gator can get back to winning ways in fine style today at a price that vastly overstates his chances.

I've got a £50 free bet with Paddy Power today and have plumped for this Common Touch put up by ROTO. I like the argument and I remember Hanagan speaking highly off him on Ch4 at York. Hoping for a bold showing. <cheers>

I'm having two bets today - Common Touch courtesy of ROTO and at Worcester where in the 4.35 Bobowen runs for Dr Newland. 11/2 will do.

Sorry to do this to you lads but I also fancy Common Touch! 33-1 just seems too big and he surely has scope to improve. Also fancy Arabian Star and can feel an exacta coming on.

Took 11-2 chachamaidee with hills earlier, very generous, but also think I love Me is a bit overpriced in that. Not much improvement needed from fourth in the Coronation and Balding knows what he's doing.

Not sure about the Prince of Wales, tought to call. maybe the yank will outrun his odds but still come up short, these foreign raidres often seem to up their game at Ascot like indomito yesterday.

    Good luck all.

Just so everyone knows, the two Boris Fenster wants to be with in the Jersey are Sovereign Debt and Producer, the two he wants to be against are Sentaril and Aljamaheer, Sentaril wont get home and Aljamaheer doesn't have the heart.

I would advise everyone on the forum to hoover up the 14/1 on Sovereign Debt as the value will soon be gone.
