It'll be just to keep him ticking over but it's a training exercise. As today I won't be getting excited.
I think he needs a run after the Juddmonte Princess - win lose or draw as it is nearly 8 weeks to Champions Day I believe ??? And he has had only 3 runs upto now and we are in August and those wins have hardly exerted him have they ??? But as Oddy say back to a mile again ??
I had a look at the Pattern book a few months ago and there are no other G1s they could run him in in that time frame. They'd have to drop him in class - and what would be the point in that - to get a run into him otherwise.
I just don't get some people "He must prove himself in a different country" ohhhh wait a minute the race is over 1m that doesn't count (not aimed at anyone on this thread btw unless you said he must prove himself in a different country)
The Irish Champion Stakes on Sept 8th is eight days earlier and is over 10f.It would represent just as viable a target as the Moulin. It is also over the trip that he was essentially kept in training for. It is only seventeen days after the International but he has run back to back races within such a timeframe on at least two occasions before. I'd be surprised if he takes on either although it would be great to see him three times again...however,the welfare of the horse must come first....they aren't machines you know...
I had ruled the Irish Champion out on the basis that it was so soon after York. I can't see that they'd want to turn him out again so quickly after his first attempt at 10f.
Yeah,I suppose it probobly will come too quickly given York may take a little more out of him and the travelling involved for an Irish sortie.
