Good morning and welcome all to National Ryan Moore Day <badger><badger><badger> we lucky15 first 4, ew patent last 3 rides.

With day two starting with the Queen Mary, I quickly moved on to the Queen’s Vase but that looks like it will be going across the Irish Sea; although I would oppose the favourite so it will probably win by half the track. The Duke Of Cambridge has been quite a good race for me in the past but this year’s renewal looks a bit sub-standard: last year’s winner Rogue Millennium looking to overturn a more than two length beating by Ocean Jewel last time and question marks against both the Gosden runners, Laurel not seen since Newbury last May and Running Lion who threw away the Dahlia Stakes and was last at Epsom behind Breege, Royal Dress and Julia Augusta.

So that leaves the big race, the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, where I suspect that many of us had Sir Michael’s Passenger pencilled in before he had a setback. There are clearly two pacemakers in the field in Hans Anderson and Snobbish so they won’t be dawdling and there will be no excuses for their more fancied stablemates. I hope connections of Zarakem enjoy their trip from France to Ascot but the Prix d’Harcourt winner (where Horizon Dore was second) was second last in the Prix Ganay with Horizon Dore just sneaking under the blanket for the five way finish. Horizon Dore subsequently just failed to land the Prix d’Ispahan, a race that Dolayli did little to advertise yesterday and where Blue Rose Cen was fifth making her reappearance. Old boy Lord North failed in his attempt to win the Dubai Turf again and the winner Facteur Cheval did nothing for that form yesterday but he was not beaten too far by Charyn at Sandown; however, he needs a few to underperform if he is to collect today. Royal Rhyme’s best career effort was in the Champion Stakes, where Horizon Dore finished ahead of him, he will have to improve considerably on his Brigadier Gerard win and I think that he might prefer easier ground than he will get here. It is hard to make a case for Alflaila picking up a first Group 1 as he was last seen in the Irish Champion Stakes nearly four lengths behind Auguste Rodin; and that rival comes here race fit. The 2023 Derby winner is an enigma. Last year’s talking horse flopped twice as a three year old and trailed home last in the Sheema Classic on his reappearance. He was beaten fair and square by White Birch (sadly absent today) in the Tattersalls Gold Cup so I see no reason to think he will suddenly come good. After the flop of Big Rock (wanted soft ground), I cannot see why I should chance last year’s Prix de Diane winner Blue Rose Cen, another horse transferred to the trainer from Christophe Head, when she may not want quick ground either. So that leaves me with the top mare INSPIRAL, winner of the Prix Jacques le Marois and Sun Chariot over a mile last term, winner of the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare at this trip and race fit from the Lockinge.

Intrigued by a few big priced fillies in the Queen Mary:

Enchanting Empress 14/1 - given as her "new" trainer's best chance of getting a winner this week on the NLD last week. She earned a "free Royal Ascot entry" when winning on their Trials Day last month, hence her entries in every 2yo race of the week!

Englemere 25/1 - broke the Carlisle track record on her last start so clearly no slouch

Spherical 22/1 - beat 2 tuned up breeze up horses on debut on Good to Soft ground and looks the sort to enjoy faster conditions
