Just read Wesley Wards stable tour on ATR whilst I'm on a train and he couldn't be more confident about Acapulco.

Finding a winner gets harder with each day after the easy card on Tuesday!!!

I do think that Frankie Dettori will get his fiftieth Royal Ascot winner today but he will have to wait until the last race (plus he said it was his best chance today when asked on Chris Evans’ Radio 2 Breakfast Show).

    Jersey Stakes: BOSSY GUEST
Queen Mary: Kurland (no bet, do not touch two-year-olds at this meeting)
Duke Of Cambridge: Integral to beat Rizeena (no bet, do not bet odds on)
Prince Of Wales’s: THE GREY GATSBY
Royal Hunt Cup: Bronze Angel (no bet, do not do many handicaps here)
Sandringham Stakes: Osaila (no bet, do not do many handicaps here)

Morning, you types. Just a watching brief for me again today re Royal Ascot. All my biggies are later in the week. Here’s a question for the racing purists though, cor blimey remember them!??, is the ‘lucky last’ at the venue today the worst ever run at Royal Ascot.

How they have got the audacity to run that heat in front of Her Majesty, even if she has got a runner, I just don’t know. I would imagine that the chap who calls himself Prince Harry and his little military chums will all be fiddling with their weapons at 5.35, later on, so offended will they be by the line-up.

    Good luck all.

At Wexford tonight Valors Minion (6pm) and Tempo Mac (7.30) can both win on a weak card. The double pays 5/1. Best of luck.

3.20-As well as Sir Issac Newton I think The Grey Gatsby is a decent EW Bet.Has the better form in the book than fav by winning one group two and two group one races.Granted his run at the Curragh wasnt great Mr Ryan will have him spot on for this.Lets hope the forums fav hold up rider Mr Spencer doesnt make a dogs dinner of this!

There are a few interesting runners today. In the opener Ivawood and Bossy Guest were both close up to Gleneagles in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and both should appreciate the drop back down in trip while Tupi beat Lacharnach last time out and that horse finished second in the St James's Palace Stakes yesterday.

Just Emma, currently available at 66/1 for the Norfolk Stakes finished third behind Buratino in the Woodcote ov 6f and had 'every chance' 2f out before fading in the final furlong. Again the drop back in distance will suit.

Western Hymn has won two Group 3 races at Sandown this season and the form line through Postponed gives him a real good chance for in form team of John Gosden and Frankie Dettori.

    Sir Issac Newton

Little surprised to see him at 7f but excited to see him provide a formline to a horse who I think would have been top class this season- Zawraq.

Hope he settles today and runs his race.

I think the commentator got that wrong. "Sir Isaac Newton never nearer"

He was squeezed out twice and then finished like a train on the heels of the placed horses. Backers of him will feel a bit unlucky

I was a little aggrieved for my punt on Fadhayyil, took a couple of bumps at crucial stages or may well have triumphed, rough race!

My outsiders are running much better than my short priced selections:
    • Cougar Mountain 3rd 16/1 (advised 40/1)
    • Latharnach 2nd 25/1 (advised 50/1 when 6 runners)
    • Areen 2nd (btn a hd) 14/1 (advised 20/1)
    • Tupi Just deprived of 3rd place on the line 14/1
Counts for nothing though. Actually having a **** Ascot. Feeling like the nearly man. <laugh>.

This is what Bob was alluding to earlier about Wesley Wards comments:

ACAPULCO (Queen Mary Stakes): A $750,000 purchase at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales auction in March, this daughter of Scat Daddy finished third, beaten seven and three quarter lengths in her only start at Churchill Downs on May 8.

“I went into the race at Churchill extremely confident, didn’t think she could lose,” Ward said. “The only thing is with a two-year-old out of the sale, they don’t have as much foundation under them as when I break them myself.”

Ward deduced that Acapulco didn’t like the Churchill surface and that when he breezed her on the turf at Keeneland just seven days after that race, his jaw dropped.

“By far and away the best work I ever had of any horse I ever trained on the grass,” Ward said. “It was a sight to see. A couple of Coolmore boys were out to watch the work themselves. It was a phenomenal work.

“Since then, all her works have been lights out. If she runs anything like she’s breezed there’s no way anything I ever had would beat her.”

Punters might like to take note of how the Jersey Stakes worked out before diving into the other races today on the straight course.

Only the third (Bossy Guest) featured in the finish from those on the far side. I do not think that anybody was expecting the American raider Luck Of The Kitten to hit the gate and go. I wonder if Joel Rosario has ever ridden over seven furlongs on turf as he went off like the proverbial scolded cat but that pretty much did the favourite in as Hughes was forced to sit behind him on Ivawood and he was pushing him along with more than two furlongs to go.

The first two came from the back of the stands’ side group and Bossy Guest ended up on the far side having been held up in the rear towards the centre. Those that tried to lay up with the pace all faltered. Fortunately punters in the Queen Mary do not have to worry about Wesley Ward’s fillies going off too quick as Ryan Moore and Frankie Dettori are on them!

Could make a case for him being the best horse in the race considering the interference he suffered and still finished like a train. I would say his performance was a boost for Zawraq
