I feel a rant coming on................... On a seperate issue.....How many Godawful runners have pulled up this season? I really think the climate this year has knocked them for six.
It is always the Magnier/Tabor money when they win though . . . . Homecoming Queen won't run in the Oaks and The Fugue has clearly improved since then when she had a rough trip anyway. I don't think she's any sort of certainty or anything but she's much better than a 6/1 IMO. Even the best 5/1 is very fair.
On BOTANIC GARDEN in the next but had to have a very small saver on LUCKY LODGE as it went on my tracker after the Brocklesby.
GUNSHIP will give me some fun in the next at Fontwell. Its going to lead, possibly by a long way, but will it stay out there!
O'Brien gets it wrong all the time with the pecking order at home. He thought Maybe was better than Homecoming Queen (time may tell that she is). His favourites get backed off the board all the time and don't always win and often get beaten by their stable mates. We all know that so I don't see why today should mean that the winner is the new Midday etc. Twirl might be showing plenty at home but the fact is that on the track she has not produced anything out of the ordinary for a Ballydoyle filly. It's pretty hard to find any horse of note in her form over in Ireland. Today she definitely ran well but came up against The Fugue who is clearly a better horse. She had run 4th in the 1000 and I made the point this morning that the prices were wrong based on what they'd achieved on track. For me The Fugue won like she was meant to. O'Brien has a lot of good fillies this year. I have no idea which one is the best of the lot but given that he has the first and third in the 1000 at home, the French runner up (from the worst stall) and three or four more who appear to be seriously talented middle distance performers, I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibilities that Twirl is no where near their best hope for the Oaks. I'm also not saying that The Fugue can't or won't win the Oaks but based on the quality of opposition today I think i'd be looking for a little more value than 7/2 (which I think is laughable).
No one said otherwise Dex matey . Its just if there is even the slightest bit of money down - IT MUST BE THE CONNECTIONS IT HAS TO BE - NO IT F*****DOESN'T !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-
That is true - it won't always be connections money.... and even then it's not always aimed at the right horse.
I think Kissed looked a really nice filly for Ballydoyle and JO'B said he thought she would love the better ground. WAS is a really interesting horse running tonight but you always have to beware a Ballydoyle horse on comeback run. What do people think of Ernest Hemingway tomorrow in the Dante?
Lots of other shrewdies have info from Ballydoyle and invest accordingly,a lot of people also follow the money,no doubt about that....you been down the boozer at lunch time RV?!!!
