I agree with what you say Nass and have heard/read the comments last season that Fallon said about Hoof It, however, why is he not riding it?? Didn't think Fallon was retained by anyone?
He left his agent, and I am guessing that may have something to do with this. Would be fascinated to find out for sure.
Lacks 'chemistry', more like he lacks the intelligence to time the horses run properly and not get dabirism stuck behind a wall of horses. fair play to him though for giving the ride up, Frankie was excellent on the horse last year.
Yorkies/Nass, Hoof Its owners requested that Ryan Moore be given the ride this year! Obviously we dont know why but that is the case.
Westwood/Chandler probobly got in a strop after the ‘King’ was claimed by Mr Cumani and had to head to an alternative meeting on Haydock Park Sprint Cup day last year. Wonder how they will react when Sir Michael claims Ryan Moore for a ride in the same race or at another meeting!
Morning chaps and what a great looking morning to... York seems to be where the forum is looking today so its a eyes down and get throwing them darts...!!! So lets hope for a good day...
I don't have any strong views on the race other than that it looks competitive. But if I was playing e/w I'd probably begin looking at the three 3 yolds as the weight allowance is quite generous imo. The French raider hasn't come here for the scenery presumably. That said, no 3 yold has won the race this century; not sure how many have run and how many have gone close though.
Morning all going to have a couple of small e/w today one going against the majority of you first one in the 2.00 york new planet at 14/1 and 3.00 restiadgent at11/1 good luck all
I won't back him in the race but the one in the 'Duke of York' that would have me tearing my hair out if he won would be my old fave, Tiddliwinks. Ignore his first run incidentally as he lost all chance at the start due to the normally excellent Neil Callan being very, very late in taking off the poor animals blindfold! Meanwhile, the ‘next Aston Villa manager’ market is a fascinating little thing with bookie chappies taking hugely contrasting views – half have old boy Mick McCarthy around the 6/4 mark and the other 50% have him about 7/1 – no middle ground at all! Old boy Benitez meanwhile very ‘warm’ in Liverpools market seems it is but a done deal according to a few sources.
Barney, the horse ran an absolute belter in the race last year despite being hampered two out, was beaten about a neck by two proper Group 1 horses. Had a similar prep this year and is 40-1 again this time round. Failed miserably to build on that last year and was beaten miles by Hoof It at Goodwood but if the horse produced last years performance again today it would go very close to winning. Got to be worth a couple of bob each way!
Stick, that case you have just made is most convincing and would certainly make Tiddliwinks look good at 40/1. I can remember him when he really burst on the scene winning 4 races in very rapid succession a couple of years back. Thought he was very good then and have always had it in the back of my mind that he could win a really big ‘un at a huge price. I guess though that the negatives are that Makin has got off him to ride something else in the contest and that in his last few races (ignoring the ‘egg and spoon’ event at Nottingham) he’s only actually beat home a handful of horses.
It was no fluke last year Barney, the horse laid up with the pace the whole way and must have close to being in front at some point in the final furlong as the two Group horses came late on the stands rail together. Spencer is on board so not a bad deputy and he has won on him before. All his early career wins were on the AW and his one turf success was on good to firm. Just being nibbled a little in the market too.
I may be wrong but I thought Fallon agreed to ride a lot more for Fanshawe this year so although he isn't 'claimed' to ride Society Rock, he is doing so. Can't have hoof it @ such a short price. Will be backing Mayson as the trainer does do well here.

Mike Attwater has a couple of fancied runners at Lingfield today. YMIR 2.50 and SALIENT 4.30 are both expected to go well. Yard had a cracking winner at the weekend. Also away from York I expect a good run form PRINCELY HERO 3.45 Fontwell (10-1) who was given a spin on the flat recently to make sure he was tuned to perfection!
Loads of money for Twirl. They must think she's useful at home because on what she's done on the track I wouldn't be touching her at odds on. I took 5's for the bumper horse for an each way punt. I do think it will put in a good run.
