    So from accusations of ‘Poor data’ we switch to ‘Incomplete data’ that gives a misleading view.

    I do not suppose that you care to share the sectional times for Eastern World, Lucander and Bell Rock. Two of them were the last two home and were the pacesetters on the far side. To have led until the last quarter of the race, they must have put in at least one quicker sectional than the near side group. Eastern World was Godolphin’s first string ridden by William Buick that made the running for six furlongs. It turned out to be a great pacemaking job for his stablemate.

    All of this still does not get away from the hard facts that I stated: the first eleven home were drawn 4, 27, 30, 33, 2, 22, 25, 26, 23, 28 and 21. The two that were not drawn twenty or above raced on the far side. The best horse won because it is clearly much better than its 94 rating.
