Saying it for years, the horse racing action isn't keeping Cheltenham going, it's the once a year race goers and the organisers are probably delighted to be selling 300,000 pints of Guinness rather than seeing the best horses take each other on.

One horse out of any race now and it makes a mockery of the race leaving long odds on faves. Such an anti climax of a festival, a real shame. I've been saying it for years it is the time now for somewhere else like Leopardstown to take up the mantle over 2 or 3 days of action and pump more money in to get the French horses over, as the British ones are afraid of there own shadows.

Yesterday didn't feel as busy as normal and the buzz wasn't around to the same degree. I think the worm has turned.

It kills me to say it, Cheltenham is the big one, it always should be in my opinion but seeing all these uncompetitive races breaks my heart at what should be the pinnacle of racing.

Its really not good. Cheltenham usually covers up any problems the sport has.
This year it is actually highlighting them

    Interesting stat from yesterday.
5 of the 7 winners (if you exclude Constitution Hill) were ante post favourites for their races a month ago.

Quite simple really isnt it <laugh>

Reminds me of Faugheen's ballymore, although Ballyburn can jump much better!

Interesting to see next year if they'll keep to hurdles or go jumping a fence.
