I was looking at the trends for the RSA and surprisingly Pym comes out very highly in those, as does battleoverdoyen. Both reasonable ew prices

The french will win the x country, but which one? It’s a head scratcher.

Keeping it simple today as I think the 3 shorties (Envoi Allen, Defi Du Seuil and Tiger Roll) will oblige so will chuck a treble on them and then an e/w Lucky 15 on the following:

    2.10 Slate House e/w
    2.50 Traffic Fluide e/w
    4.50 Galahad Quest e/w
    5.30 Panic Attack e/w

I think Slate House is over-priced in the RSA. He was clearly biting off too much in the Cotswold Chase but has looked very good in his completed chases this season and clearly acts round Cheltenham on testing ground. Obviously lots of potential in this but I think Slate House has been there and got the T-Shirt so I am happy he can outrun his odds with plenty of question marks about the others.

The Coral Cup is an absolute minefield as always but I think Traffic Fluide is a fascinating contender. Being aimed at the Grand National, he came back from a lengthy absence and was running an absolute blinder in the Ascot Chase before falling at the last when still upsides Cyrname and Riders On The Storm. Providing he is over that he must have a massive chance here off just 142. He has only had 1 career run over hurdles to date, winning over a similar trip to today at Plumpton on soft/heavy, beating Mister Malarkey in a novices hurdle.

The Fred Winter is also full of imponderables but one who is a decent price is Nick Williams' Galahad Quest who won the Triumph Hurdle trial at the end of January from subsequent winner Night Edition (reopposes today). The stable know how to win this and I think he offers a bit of value.

In the bumper I have gone for the Pipe filly e/w based on the featherweight. Again a wide open contest where it is hard to get a handle on the form of the main Irish protagonists but I really liked the way Panic Attack went about her business at Market Rasen and we saw last year with Blue Sari that the weight can help a 4YO go close in this. The extra sex allowance sees her carrying just 10-04 and I would think that can see her go very close.

    Best of luck forumites <ok>

Brian Hughes gets the Champagne Well ride and it might be a lucky one for him. The horses form is strong and it traded at evens to beat Thyme Hill in the race two runs ago!!

    Envoi/Defi/Tiger Roll treble
    Envoi/ Tiger double
Champ (I know I know) is the best horse in the RSA and I just hope he proves it!

champagne Well as already mentioned and then Mick Pastor/Langer Dan in the Fred Winter.

    then the bus home.

I agree its probably the best horse in the race but i'm reluctantly leaving it unbacked today purely because i can't be having Barry G on a horse thats a bit of a sketchy jumper. If literally any other jockey in the race was on i'd be all over Champ.

    Day 2:
Ballymore - Envoi Allen but no price. Big Breakaway ew
RSA - I don’t like the prep of the first 2 - only 2 runs each and I think the Marsh was Champs race. At a price and mentioned earlier Battleoverdoyen and Pym both ew
Coral cup - very keen on Birchdale although has been drifting all day so far. Eglatine Du Seuil also, both ew
Champ chase - Defi for me, won the right races all season.
X-country - easysland after his impressive win in December.
    Boodles - night edition
Bumper - queens brook. Think the allowance will be too much for the fav. Could see The glancing queen running a big race.

Don't have much at all riding on today's runners but that will change closer to tapes up. Anyway here's my tentative selections for today...

    1:30 - Envoi Allen in a few accy's, The Big Breakaway e/w
    2:10 - Champ
2:50 - Burrows Edge, Champagne Well, Elegante Du Seuil - no bet, just fancies
    3:30 - Defi De Seuil
    4:10 - Tiger Roll - no bet
    4:50 - Tronador, Saint D'Oroux, Thyme White, all e/w
5:30 - Appreciate It - win, Panic Attack, Ferny Hollow e/w

Hardest day of the week for me, never done well on Wednesday for a very long time... Oh well, 7 races must have 7 winners, it's finding them that's the hard part...

Good luck once again to those who play...<cheers> <ok>

Today is looking a bad day for those of us that will not touch the short-priced ones and do not believe in that “each-way value” nonsense in opposing them.

    1:30 Envoi Allen
Very hard to look beyond the hotpot with the only issue the extra distance on this very soft ground. No bet.

    2:10 Copperhead
    Champ
blotted his copybook last time and cannot afford mistakes here, so I like Tizzard’s boy to run Minella Indo into the ground.

    2:50 Honest Vic
A complete lottery, so after five minutes pin-sticking a small each-way on Richard Johnson’s mount near the bottom of the weights with the bookies offering lots of places.

    3:30 Defi Du Seuil
I expect this fellow to complete a Festival hat-trick but at the odds I will just be watching. Ironic that the finish could be fought out between “threshold defiance” and “to each their own” – but in French!

    4:10 Easysland
Purely to avoid picking race hat-trick seeking Tiger Roll, I will go with the French raider in another watching race.

    4:50 Palladium
Backed the wrong one of the Lieutenant’s in the opener yesterday, so going with the jockey this time. The ground and trip are no problem but first time in a handicap, is he thrown in? Thank goodness this is not on ITV with Chapman shouting about the gamble on Blacko.

    5:30 Israel Champ
With everyone in Ireland called Mullins or Elliott having a runner, a sporting chance is taken with a course winner from the home team.

Have backed Minella Indo so far. Apart from a couple of darts at the Coral Cup - Protektorat and Traffic Fluide - that might be the only bet I put on today.

A couple in the bumper ask a honey bee hasn’t put a foot wrong so far and ocean wind would be a popular winner with stickler.

unbelievable this - i just decided on the spur of the moment to pop out from work and put a bet on for this.
as i was writing out the bet slip for Defi it came through on the bookies radio that CPS was a NR.

as I handed over my slip I said can I take the price, even though I thought that betting would have been suspended.
anyway she gets the price up and says i can give you 5/4 is that ok! I said that will do<cheers> I see Defi is now 4/11<laugh>
