I think Moses, Aspas and Alberto are nailed on to start probably with Toure. I reckon he'll give Kelly a shot at RB and Cissokho will probably retain his place. I'd expect to see Gerrard on the bench again with possibly Sturridge. Alberto should be in given the recent injuries and certain players needing a break from the busy Christmas period. If he isn't, there's something definitely wrong with him or Rodgers --------------Migs--------------- Kelly-Toure-Agger-Cissokho --Alberto-Lucas-Henderson- ----Aspas-Suarez-Moses----
At Chelsea and Manchester City we played fairly well and deserved more than we came away with in the end, but there's no shame as they were both at home and are probably the two strongest squads in the premiership. (Arsenal similarly have a strong team but their squad depth isn't as good as Chelsea and City, IMO.) Anyway, back to the forthcoming cup-tie with Oldham ... Go with an attacking line-up? Of course! Young, experienced and fringe players? I should coco! I think we should try: -------------Mignolet--------------- ---Ilori------Skrtel------Agger------- --------Toure-----Lucas------------ ---Hendo--------------Alberto------ Ibe----------Aspas----------Sterling Admittedly Suarez and Gerrard could swap with Alberto and Aspas, respectively. (Suarez could start but I'd prefer him not to -- but, if he does, sub him for aspas asap!) Gerrard and Kelly are both recovering (different stages) from injury so we should use them as subs only. I'd like to see Ilori, Ibe, Aspas and Alberto starting, as they all need game time to show what they can do. Coutinho needs to be wrapped in cotton wool, like Suarez (until Sturridge is better), and we can ill afford to lose either Hendo or Lucas with Allen injured. Regardless, I'd start both Hendo and Lucas and sub one (Hendo?) if we have a comfortable lead. Cissokho, as he's our only real left back with Enrique injured, should get a rest (the boy needs it, hopefully he'll then play better!). I'd go for three at the back because we score more (and, admittedly, concede more!) with three at the back. We're at Anfield and therefore should embrace the credo of 'the best defense is a good attack'! Also, as Agger hasn't looked at his best, and Toure needs more game time, I wouldn't have them as our sole CBs. Skrtel should be there to steady them both, as he's been (OGs aside, Gerrez! ) our best defender this season (Not joking!), and Ilori has height and pace. With Ilori, Skrtel and Agger we have three 6'3" players (always useful against lower league opposition!) and also have Toure's aerial prowess to help at set pieces and defending corners/freekicks. These are my reasons for the three at the back, crazy as they may seem to other, undoubtedly more enlightened, posters! Hopefully this will be a good game with plenty of goals ... for us! As this isn't a premiership game I'm not overly fussed about a clean sheet but we, and indeed the team, would prefer that we do. Clean sheets, like winning and getting goals, is a good habit to get in to! Also, if it's not too much to ask: no injuries, please!
on tender hooks for the team sheet. I REALLY want to beat this bunch of manc wannabees. the only thing is at home they can't "rent a crowd" from manchester to throw abuse.... I would love to see suarez rested and us win 6-0. neither will happen.
You lot are my bet of the day today. You're 1/7 on to win, so there's no value there, but you're a very generous 5/6 to win both halves.
Did you see west ham at 7/2? I know there playing **** and Forrest are having a good season but I had to get on that
