i agree with that warky. even if he had left he'd done wonders for the club - didn't deserve abuse. certainly people were disappointed and that's fair enough, but slagging him off was out of order

I've said a couple of times that I'd rather sell him and use the money, but that was more if the other option was to force hm to stay and see out his remaining two years. If he's happy to stay and by the looks of things in the shape of his life then I'm delighted, I just didn't want him bringing the dressing room down, especially as he seems to lead a lot of the banter. This is a great out come though, really excited for the new season now.

I have to agree with johnnywarksmoustache here. There were wrongs on both sides (the assumption that 31 was too old for a 3 year contract amongst them), but Holt is absolutely crucial to this club this year and the next two. Look at the role Dion Dublin played at a far more advanced age. I couldn't be more pleased that it's been sorted and Holty will be here for another three years! OTBC!

Hi Dave bor, you put it in the correct perspective. He did his duty by his family, nothing wrong with that. To those who would deny him the captaincy, here is food for thought.

Holty wanted to wear the green and yellow for three more years, it was City who thought to deny him that privilege. I'd rather have a player who wants to wear the shirt than one who ups away at the first option.

Now we can get down to the nitty gritty, preparing for our next season in the Premier and hopefully with a manager who is prepared to have a run in the FA Cup etc, and not one frightened of the consequences of a cup run.

All we need now is an ode from the bard when he's finished his Rex duties!

Don't bite my head off, but I'm not so sure this is a good outcome. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm scared all that has happened will take the edge of his performances for us. Holt is a guy who plays on inspiration, not intelligence, and I think a lot of what he has done for us has been because of this feeling he has of being special for the club and the fans, that there is a special link between us. I fear that link has gone and now he is just another player, both to us and in his own mind, and his performances won't be the same.

He needs to hit the ground running this season, which is something he typically doesn't do. Often a slow starter, often puts on a stone in the off season. However from seeing him today on canary player, he appears to have kept himself in much better shape so far. If he bags a few goals early on I think everything will be fine.

The whole Holt is a slow starter thing is strange. Every year he's been with us he's been playing at a higher level (a level incidentally people insisted he would fail at) plus he was coming back from an injury at the start of this season. If he stays fit over the summer, and he's looking fantastic, he will be starting at the same level as he finished on fire last season. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets more than 15 goals this season.

The atmosphere when he takes the field will be as electric as it ever was! Fantastic news, he might not score as many as last season, but that is not all Grant Holt is to the football club.

He has got what he wants. Now the negotiations are over. Now the performances have to start.
While I am glad that he is staying as I still hope he can perform as he did last season, another part of me is disappointed that it appears that the main man in our revival over the last 3 years has had to eat humble pie.
Football supporters are fickle and Holt has gone from hero to zero and back to hero in 6 weeks on this site. Its like the hedgerows of Germany full of uniforms in 1945.
He did what he felt he had to do. Fair enough. Don't blame him at all. But now he has to deliver.

i think you are completely wrong to be honest and i find your comments about holt not playing with intelligence bizarre. that's something he certainly does on the field - he's extremely clever, something he often doesn't get credit for it seems! the link won't have just disappeared - there may be a few stragglers but there'll be 25k+ who aren't swayed. as soon as that first goal goes in the slight discontent will disappear. if anything, he now has to prove to everyone that he is worth the extra year and this may very well raise his game further.

For all those who still doubt our POTS of the last 3 seasons - watch how relaxed and positive he is on this video

I agree with Super here - Holt does play with quick-fire intelligence and reads the game very well. He reminds me of Ashton in this regard and in his instinctive goals. His years out on the wing at Forest (why?) also give him a range of play and allows him to confuse defences and pull defenders out of position. I also agree that there will be a further level of determination this year, hopefully leading to early goals to silence the small minded boo boys!

agree rick. not sure there will be any 'boo boys' so to speak, but there will remain some who see him in a bad light. the problem is some fans take it personally - its his job and he's looking out for himself. we'd all look out for ourselves under the same circumstances. as i have said numerous times on here, i'm not happy with the way he went about his business this summer but now its all sorted its forgotten about, the line is drawn and we all move on

Certainly will NOT hang my head in shame, what he did was wrong in everyway, and it caused ructions in my club. As previously stated on other posts: The club comes first in all things, Holt was going nowhere until he came to us, he took the opportunity brilliantly, but we gave him the platform, thats WE as in everyone at Carrow Road. I'm happy that he's seen the error of his ways and will give him my support, as I will to ALL NCFC players, I just hope and pray that he hasn't done my club any permenant harm.
I WON'T BOO HIM, just incase anyone asks!!!
