I am absolutely delighted Holty is staying! I don't think we could replace a player like Holt, so if we have to give him a few extra grand a week, then so be it!
Don't see anything crazy there Guru. Just two facts which make the outcome optimum for both club and player and mean good sense has prevailed. As for the likely reaction of some supporters, insignificant compared to e.g. the vitriol initially directed at Rooney and Tevez.
you can almost hear the whole of suffolk deflating. they saw this as the major sign that all was not well and our meteoric rise through the divisions was about to catch up on us and we'd come crashing back down through the trap door and below ipswich. losing lambert was a disappointment but inevitable, but holt leaving... that was different. lambert could be replaced with a steady hand, a sensible appointment - that's been made in the form of hughton and nullifies many of the problems losing lambert may cause. losing holt would have been bigger. how would the fans cope losing their favourite player? what would happen in the dressing room? the mutiny, i can sense the mutiny... mwa ha ha... oops. not going to happen
Don't forget it was Payne who leaked this out into the open (whether this was under the influence of Holty, to try and push NCFC into a decision, who knows) which got McNally's back-up. DN likes to conduct any business in private, as we've seen previously.
this just gets better and better. on the ipswich board, yorkie has claimed that mcnally is no better than clegg as a chief executive
Agree with all the first bit. He's as much a world beater as we are ever likely to see playing for us.This time last year everyone outside Norwich and quite a few inside were saying he wouldn't cut it in the top flight. Now we know that he can and personally I would not be at all surprised to see him beat last year's tally. And don't we just know that if he had gone he would have scored against us. My feeling is that we are a little better situated than we were for the last campaign.I always rated Hughton and never understood why the Geordies gave him the bum's rush. This time last year there were whispers about Ruddy too.
I was one that said Norwich are bigger than both Lambert and Holt but despite this I am pleased GH has chosen to stay. He will again make a huge contribution to next season (lets hope another 15 league goals) For me it is a case of forget it and move on. Lets hope for a few more good signings in the coming weeks an excellent pre-season and that we slaughter Fulham 5-0 on the opening day of the season (we want to send out the right message) I am very optimistic for next season, the last seasons squad did well, with a little bit of tweaking and a tightening up at the back we should do equally as well, if not better.
Hi Mexican, We could do with some of your weather over here, it's been pants. I've never known such a wet summer, I'll be bloody glad when this drought is over I suppose you're lounging by the pool surrounded by latino women and sipping a tequilla ?
Supers it doesn't bother me in the slightest whether he stays or goes! The funny thing about all this is all the backtracking now going on from some of your budgie mates on here! But of course none of you lot are fickle....
No lounging or pool unfortunately, just work until Friday (although it is extremely hot) Saturday flying to Mexico city for a few days of partying Will be a little cooler there, indeed will be visiting Toluca altitude 2800m and have been told it is cold there at the moment (just like being at home) On my return , my daughter arrives carrying with her the latest City shirt Hope the weather improves for you all, some great signings, can't wait for the new season........OTBC
There was no back tracking from me. I said when PL left and GH put in a transfer request that we would survive with out both, we were here before and will be after both of them have gone. The rest of our PREMIER LEAGUE squad were intact. The fact that GH has not left is great because players like him are hard to replace. I suspect he will go on to score 10 plus goals again next season and help us to finish mid table and then enjoy the HUGE payment that is due for the 2013-2014 season By the way, hows it going in the transfer market for you binners????
might not bother you personally but its bothering an awful lot of ipswich fans! i was much like mexican and said that no player is bigger than the club. i'm still disappointed by the way it was handled but i'm happy he is staying - its the right decision for both the club and him.
I hear they have been linked with an up and coming young prospect currently playing for Leiston reserves.
