Gyan: Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn says sale reports are nonsense

....Sunderland have moved swiftly to refute speculation the club are looking to cash in on star striker Asamoah Gyan.

The North East outfit reportedly circulated the Ghana international's availability through an agent to potential suitors on Tuesday.

Gyan joined for a club record fee of £13million in August 2010 and he impressed in his debut Premier League campaign.

Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has rubbished the report and hopes fans realised quickly the true nature of the events.

"The suggestion that we have spoken to an agent to sell this player on our behalf is embarrassing to all concerned," Quinn told the club's official website.

"I hope our fans would be smart enough to realise that this is probably some other club or outside agent's way of attempting to destabilise our relationship with one of our players."

Remember the name of the reporter ALAN NIXON. Remember also that he works for THE DAILY MIRROR. What action you take is up to you.

This is the same guy who "reported" some time ago that Kevin Phillips was about to be transfered from us to the Skunks and we all know that story was absolutely true! If it was some kid making up these stories, you would cuff him round the lugs for fabricating the truth.

The problem is that these "stories" are gradually accepted as fact if not corrected, and only appear again as a "we told you first" article whilst the other 99% of the rubbish printed is forgotten. Unfotunately for Mr Nixon I well remember his Kevin Phillips story so the next time you see anything written by him................well make your own mind up!

Thankfully our chairman has acted swiftly to quell any rumours, though why he should have to deal with this garbage is regetttable.

No. It's right he should communicate when it is an out and out lie. That is why we have the frenzy we do on here. We are kept in the dark. I KNOW and dont expect the ins and outs of who we are after, who we are selling, but it is good to have some info. Keep it up SAFC. I dont want all the facts, but I do want to know we are trying to do good things.

Wouldnt suprise me if that facking cant saggy face had somethign to do with this rumour to unsettle Gyan and create a move, good job for us Gyan seems like a decent bloke and I have faith that he is not one of these players in the Tevez/Bent mould who have no loyalty or pride.

So, you've had to issue a statement BECAUSE a lot of Sunderland fans have believed it (otherwise, why issue a statement?), and then said that you would hope they're smart enough to realise it's untrue, therefore insulting everyone who believed it.

    Smooth.

You seem to be implying that "the barrow boy" would stoop to underhand tactics like dicussing other club's players (Kenwyn Jones springs to mind). You know he would never do such a thing!!!

No bum bandit. He issued the statement to inform his fans that the story in a national newspaper is total bollocks. Its what a good chairman does although I can understand why you wouldnt recognise it.

If Quinny says he isnt for sale then thats fine by me. If Gyan then decides he want s to move there is precious little we can do about it but at least we know it wasnt the clubs policy to sell him in the first place.

Note to all NE1 Scum. Agent Ashley operates differently but it too is always in our best interestes over here on Wearside as well.

We get 2 chairmen for the price of one.

If you want to read the true stories you should read a paper like The Times or similar papers

Rupert Murdochs rag? Are you having a larf kidda?

Anything that has his grotty little fingers involved is as far removed form the truth than can ever be believed.

It still wouldn't suprise me if Gyan left this summer. If a Champions League team came in for him he'd be away in a shot. Which I wouldn't mind tbh. We're a stepping stone for the lad to further his career. we'll make a nice profit if he does go, if not we get to watch a fantastic player for another season. win-win for me.

To be honest The Times seems to have kept its integrity despite being owned by Murdoch, but nevertheless my utter hatred of what he stands for means I will not buy this paper anymore.

Jesus Christ: young lady boy certainly comes out with some ****e.

Why not comment on your own club selling old chicken dance to West Ham? In my opinion this is a fowl trick, but poultry in motion as far as Sunderland fans are concerned!<whistle>
