I would go for Anderson at Palace. 27 years old. Looks solid. Can play out from the back. Is a threat at set pieces.
He does need replacing mate. He just doesn't supply enough quality in the final third. A good squad player though.
Don't understand the like dislike of Schar tbh. Sure he has a mistake in him but so does Botman. Schar offers a lot to the attack. His passing for a CB is incredible and he is a solid defender. I think Botman is better physically, but technically Schar is better. I don't think replacing Schar is a priority. If he gets dropped we lose quite a bit of attacking quality.
Schar is better than lascelles but so was lejuene.. Newcastle have a collection of unmovable objects.
Laecelles, Krafth, Ritchie etc will be the first level to go, they must know their time is up soon, then replacements for the likes of Longstaff, Schar and Almirion, with those guys becoming squad players before being phased out. Schar is 32 in a few days, and has a year or 2 with us left as a squad player, but we need another CB regular.
LW - Gordon and Barnes coming back soon. Also Isak can play there. RW - Almiron. Scores the odd goal but cannot be relied upon to do it regularly, and his decision making in the final 3rd is terrible. He rarely ever creates. A worthwhile member of the squad for his work rate and defensive cover, but is basically the new Jonas. Rarely creates or scores, but works his arse off. RW is definitely our ****test position. We have enough defenders for now, especially being out of the cups/europe. We have another CM's. We have 2 good CF's. We really needed to sign an RAM/RW in summer. Maddison and Bowen would have been achievable with a bit more ambition, but we can forget that now.
One thing that concerns me about Eddie Howe is his tendency to continually pick slowish plodding defenders. He did it at Bournemouth by playing people like Simon Francis, Steve Cook and Charlie Daniels (and a bloke called Smith. ) As much as Dan Burn has been a great value for money signing, he needs hooking as a left back and Eddie needs to start introducing a bit of pace to the back line, quick sharpish. Schars eventual replacement and a new left back need to be nippy bar stewards.
He was so defensively awful at Bournemouth towards the end, but more troubling was as you say the striking similarities. Didn't matter how many they let in, how average people like Cook or Francis were, he'd pick them. For Cook read Trippier, for Francis read Schar, for Daniels read Burn. The thing is, Howe's only got one style of play in his locker. When it really clicks and the best XI are out there playing well, it's really hard to live with. But when players form dip, when certain things like Trippier's crosses just stop working, his preferred method has always been 'keep doing the same thing over and over again to get a different result'.
Howe will ruin the club before his time runs out. He's got loads of time and they will keep letting him waste more money.
